What happened to Craveking's 1971 Topps set?

I just checked the registry today and noticed Cravekings great set is no longer there. His set posted a few months back, was climbing the charts, and now it is gone. If it can be shared, I am curious as to what happened to this set?

  • I sold it. I had too many sets. Just focusing on 52 Topps, 34 Goudey and 1 "modern" set, 75 Topps Mini. This is more than enough of a challenge for the next two or three years, I think. Will get my Goudey's up on the Set Reg soon.

Sorry to hear that; you had a fantastic set going there! I wish you luck on your other sets!
  • thanks. I built it quickly, no patience, rookie mistake but had fun doing it. Seems to me, and I am no expert, believe me, that the so called low pop cards are selling for huge premiums due to some rabid bidding (I am definitely guilty of this), and after speaking to several knowledgeable dealers, the feeling was that the pops are going to increase since there are quite a few raw sets out there. Whether this is true or not, it is real challenging to build the 52 set, much less the 34 Goudey in PSA 8.

I think that is true. I have been building mine for over 5 years and don't believe I have every gotten into a bidding frenzy over one particular card. I have tried to be patient. It of course helps that I am building my set in 7 or better instead of just 8. Now, however, that I am close, I may get rabid just to finish this thing off so I can move on. However, I will never pay $200.00 for a PSA 7 Claud Raymond! image I will probably just be content with a 6 in that card.
