Lebron staying in Cleveland

Good move on his part.

He will still only be 26 when his new deal (5 years, $80 million) expires, he will have earned nearly $200 million between his NBA and Nike contracts.

if Cleveland doesn't win a championship in these 5 years, I could easily see him going to another team...but Cleveland has to get him some help.

...and you'll still be in Modesto working the night shift at WalMart.

If you look at where Cleveland has come in just a couple years, it's leaps and bounds. I'm not sure if it's because Lebron has elevated that team so much or because the supporting cast is greatly improved but they are a much much better team now than a couple years ago. A few more solid players and they could easily make it to the Finals soon. Lebron needs a "Pippen".

They seem to want to pin the hopes of that "Pippen" role on Drew Gooden. But, my opinion is that he's not that guy. Not sure if there is a guy out there in free agency or available on the trade market that can fill that role as of now....maybe at some point though. Lebron has tremendous talent, although I'm a bigger Dwayne Wade (and Miami Heat) fan since I'm here in South Florida and witness his magic firsthand. image

It's been a tremendous turnaround for this franchise....from bottom of the barrell to a game 7 that could have led them to the conference finals.

It will be interesting to see if they progress this year to the finals, or if a regression is in order (I think they overachieved a bit last year). He definitely needs help, as his career won't be lating too long if he's having to play 43+ minutes a night.

Good point about him needing another player to put Cleveland over the top - and also about him reducing his minutes at that point. He's still an amazing talent, and because he started so young, who knows how many titles (and where) he could potentially win?

Drew Gooden is not the guy they need...but he's not bad. The Heat are going to be a year older (with essentially the same team I would guess), the Pistons will feel the loss of Wallace, and the rest of the East isn't that much better, so Cleveland could make some noise this year.
