new to the forum, checking in!

Hey folks! I introduced myself yesterday to the US Coin Forum, and being a world gold collector, would like to do the same here. I have started a modest collection of world gold issues, both vintage (most late 19th, early 20th century) and the nice proof issues issued in the 70s for small countries by the much maligned Franklin Mint. I'm looking forward to joining in on the discussions, and look forward to learning more from you guys.
Regards,
Doug
here are a couple of pieces that are on "the radar" of possible near future purchases, absolutely stunning pieces in my opinion:

post that you like the Franklin mint stuff. There are many great gold coins
among these and almost without exception they are grossly underappreci-
ated. There are numerous ones that were made for spurious reasons and
in quantities that will prevent much appreciation for many years but there
are even more that were made in smaller numbers and have very dynamic
and desirable themes. These coins have gotten very little respect so have
had high attrition rates in many cases. Gold with very high face values are
being shipped to the issuer for redemption and these are mostly melted in
all probability.
It's not so hard to understand why collectors shun the cu/ ni, aluminum, and
other base metal moderns but it escapes me why gold should be overlooked
as well.
