Roosie collectors - POP 7/0 67FB 06-D on the bay.

I have been hitting the 2006 Coinage hard in anticipation of my son to be born in Oct. I wanted a top set for him so I have been assaulting the Rolls that I can get. I end up with some duplicates that also happen to be POP top and here is one of them. This is a true circ strike so they won't be plentiful. Its it for me, its too expensive to try for 68FB.

  • Probably won't be able to afford the 67fb as I see some of our roosie fans watching it, but I have my eye on the 66fb. I also purchased several of the other 2006 business coins you had on ebay. Can't wait to receive them. By the way I loved your pictures on your auctions. Great detail! Good luck on your sales.

Zach - Thanks - now I get the connection. thanks for the compliment on the pics. I work hard to get good photos. I know when I buy I like good photos. If people know what they are getting they bid accordingly and that makes everyone happy. I always hate it when I bid on a coin with a poor pic and just the numeric grade only to be dissapointed when I get a coin that I am not happy with. Of course I am really picky, hence the reason I try to make my own coins for my collections. I can't complain about my own grading image

BTW - how can you tell who is watching it?

    Cheers,

    Brian
  • Well I actually can't tell who is "watching it" so much as I see who is bidding on which coins and I know many many of our board members' ebay IDs. Some are very obvious like the ones bidding on the '06 67fb. Some are not.

I have made it a habit to track many many coins on ebay to understand the pricing of many of the coins I am seeking. Curently I am working on building a 1968-present mint set. My main focus is not to get done anytime soon, but rather build a very nice set. Since it is entirely too many coins to seek (almost 500 are required at this point) I am focusing on Lincolns and the current mint year sets. After I finish my lincoln set, I will move on to roosies or washingtons.

I track on average about 80 lots per week and bid on roughly 30. So I get to see who is buying what as a by-product of that price watching. The coins I watch and the ones I don't win, I record in a spreadsheet to know what market price is on which coins right now.

The funny thing is, I get many many great deals on the boards. The prices are usually about 10-20% better here and the quality is superb.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. But I realy did enjoy your pics. It is great to know what I am getting. I am sure I will be buying many more from you as I have decided to build a business and a SF set this year. I am going to try to make the SF ones myself and buy the business ones.

    Thanks,
    Zach

I am still looking for the 68FB's for 05/06 business strikes. But after reading what people are saying about non bulk submissions getting lower grades than bulk, I may wish I had given up before now.
I have 17 more 05-D rolls due (overdue) to arrive any day now. Thats not many rolls to a bulk submitter, but when you have to find them where you can, its quite a prize. What with the D-mints not easy to come by in rolls on the East coast.

    Dan,

Pick out your very best and save them for a bulk. I will be assaulting the 06-P's soon and have enough coins for probably half a bulk -50 coins (100 coin Min). We may be able to help each other out and do a joint bulk.

With the high pops for most, or all of the other 2006 denominations, the question of finding a MS68FB business strike is not farfetched or out of reach as some might think. It is a holygrail grade in my book and several hundred dime rolls may be needed to be looked through in order to find that 1 dime. if you find 2, you could easily make your money back.

If a roll of 2006-D cost $10 <---Eample, and you buy 10 rolls at a time, thats $100. You find nothing, you still have $50 Face in dimes. You are only out $50. Do this 10 x's, that $500. You then finally found 2 MS68FB and sell one to Wonderwallet for $1,000. You are now + $500 and you have a free MS68FB and you get paid to search for it. Not to mention all of the MS67FB that you sell along the way.

    Anyway this is my thinking.

    Later, Paul.

Paul I paid $5.99 each for the 17 rolls of 05-D's that I have. That was just to good a deal to pass up, even with the shipping. Because like you said, you still have $5.00 in dimes if you find nothing.
And the pop is still only 1 in 67FB. This will go up, since I have a few banded ones ready to be subbed.
And hope to find more in this batch. But my main search is for the 68FB.image
