Hello folks. I've begun to get back into cards. It's been a long time. Last I knew, there were no slabs for cards. Anyways, what I'm confused about is whether BGGS and BGS are the same company? Any help is appreciated. Is there risk associated with BGGS cards? I see they seem to sell cheaper. Lastly, am I ok with PSA? I like their holders quite a bit and the few pieces I have graded at "8" seem to look excellent. I can't see spending money for better?
Also, I can't believe how much prices have come down from the late eighties. Wow. You couldn't get a Ripken rookie for under $100, I see them going now for easily less than $50.
Thanks guys,
Rob

grading cards, in my view.
But, over time, I have noticed that PSA
graded cards - in ALL categories - are
bringing more money on eBay. (There
are exceptions to this "rule.")
If I was just getting into graded cards,
I would definitely ONLY go with PSA.
They are the "currency of the realm"
right now, and unless something REAL
bad happens, they will likely remain thus.

I don't trust the BCCG graded cards. I don't like the simplified grading with the 10 assigned to a card and says Mint or better? It was designed as an "alternative" to other services - whatever that means?
A lot of big sellers like Shop at Home used them to push their items.

I did like them..... until I started trying
to sell them. The grading looks accurate
to me, but buyers are "afraid."
I am going to crack the few I have left
and send them to PSA.
