tips for searching items on ebay???

Okay, I know the very, very basics.

I mostly search for 55 topps all americans. Haven't been buying much else so it's the only thing I search for. I usually go to football cards and type in "1955 psa -(bowman)". I know the "-" takes away the 1955 bowman cards.

But when I recently checked some completed auctions by name, I missed a few cards I would have liked. Cards that were listed as '55 AA for example.

I know "auto*" will get auto and autograph together..........

Any other tricks I can use to maximize my search results while skipping stuff I wouldn't be interested in?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The "-bowman" doesn't need to be in parentheses, but you can use a comma inside parentheses to create an OR statement:

    1955 psa (aa, topps)

This will search for all cards in the specified category that have "1955" AND "psa" AND either "aa" OR "topps" in the title.

The ()'s work great for narrowing down your searches too.

Speaking of searches, how many different searches do you have? I typically have 40-50 searches, just to make life as easy as possible. I have individual searches for each year Boggs' cards I need, as well as Rose. Super easy to let email notfication and SMS alerts tell you when you have hits.

Here is how I would do the search. (1955, 55) (topps, Americans, AA) PSA -bowman

    Shawn,

Here's how I would do it:

(1955*, 55*) (aa*, all*, amer*) psa*

Sometimes people try to squeeze too much into their 80 character title and will do things like "1955Topps" or "PSA8" without a space. The 1955* and PSA* will catch those.

Also, I would enter the above search from the main ebay search (i.e. don't go to the football card category). One of the most common listing issues I find is that people put their items in the wrong category (football cards in the baseball card category, for example).

    Hope this helps,
