1954 Hank Aaron PSA8 on EBAY # 110004393873

Just looking for some opinions on this listing that expires shortly (5 hrs). Obviously everyone has stayed away from bidding since the seller is new, has zero feedback, and does not take paypel. Does the ID VERIFIED icon mean anything? I emailed the seller asking him about PAYPAL and he told me i could trust the deal even though he is new, since he is ID verified. I am assuming I should stay away?? Would be a nice find for $1500, but a huge risk....

I'd stay away. Far away! Too many questions. "If it seems to good to be true, don't bid." image

  • not good at the link thing yet, but the item # is in my header of the original post...
  • Let's see - high $ card, 1-day auction, no PayPal, no feedback. I guess if you're feeling charitable, you can send him a "donation".

The ID verified means that he'll be moving within a week... image

  • I agree with you 100%...i learned my lesson early in my ebay life on a much cheaper card...really just wondered if the id thing meant anything...
  • The ID means that give them some info about themselves related to where they live and does it match a credit card of car payment statement and they ask for the persons drivers license. It usually means it is who they say they are, but not sure how that protects the buyer anymore.

In other words, looks like our new seller here must've jacked someone's wallet last night. image
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Offer to pick it up from him in person, and provide a couple other scams.

Someone with a card as nice as that wouldn't be trying to sell it on ebay with zero feedback.

    yep...

explain your concern and if he's on the up and up he'll snap a pic of the card with today's paper.

or you could always offer to buy the card only if an escrow service of YOUR choosing is used.

He may be on the up and up....dunno....but with so many scams these days you best protect yourself

    Who is Rober Maris?
  • send a pic of the ten commandments. make sure you place today's newspaper right next to it....and a ruler so i know it's the right size.
  • FYIto all....at last second, there was a snipe bid for the $1500......i'd love to see how this one ends up....i'd also love to contact the buyer and give him some advise, but ebay recently changed how you contact a member and has a new voice system that talks outthe numbers...mine seems to not recognize the numbers correctly....can someone try to contact the bidder to give a "heads-up" ??
  • Even if this seller could prove that he has the card by taking a picture with it with todays paper, I still would not take a chance on a seller that has zero feedback (especially since he doesn't accept paypal).

The buyer, I believe, has done business with several
    sellers on this board.

The buyer either got a REALLY cheap deal, or he is
    about to lose $1,500.00.

Mike, I wish could afford to buy the dead sea scrolls from you but, I still owe you a big chunk of change from when you told me who Carly Simon was refering to in the song "Your So Vain". I still have not told anyone. image

    That is a "guarded" secret...

She has never told anyone who Mick Jagger is!

    Or was that James Taylor?

    Or was it Warren Beatty?

    Or was it....
