beating a dead horse

its the term we use for a location detected to death. i drove around this morning not finding anything going anywhere. found myself at house built in the 1870's, that was recently leveled. dug numerous memorial cents and the kennedy half. that half is my first NON silver half in many years. then drove over to the spot where i did so well last month. 3 wheats and a small silver ring. i've dug so much over there, that even trash signals are hard to find now.

I know what you mean- I have sites like that.

When I first hunted them, I would go home with 8 or 10 wheaties and maybe some silver. Nowadays I'm lucky to go home with two recently-dropped Memorials and a few tiny little .22 shells.

BUT, even though these "dead horse" sites have long ago had all the EASY stuff taken, I still get them to cough up a deep Indian cent or something, about once a year.

  • An old house yielded nothing but Memorials and clad half? That is odd. Unless it was pounded already but then there was the half. The half is a good find anyway.
