Claude, how big are they ? From first glance they reminded me of two things. First was the old plastic army men we all played with as kids, except white rather than green of course. Second was those models/statues or whatever that you used to be able to buy and paint yourself.

For a second there I got excited - thought they might be the 55 Dairy Queens but those have the name of the player on the base.

Have no idea what these are?

I measured them, all about 2 1/2 inches tall with NO identifying marks. There are numbers on the jerseys but no names.
  • man...I think I used to play with those back in the early- mid 70's....

I do think that they were part of a paint and play set too.

The one thing I DO remember...as with the old Army figures..they didn't hold up too well to the magnifying glass on a hot summer day!!
WHAT.....you didn't play with fire either?? lol

Definitely not the 55 Dairy Queens. Look like cake topper figures to me.

I hope somebody comes up with the origin of this set. I've always been curious since I got a copy of the right-handed batter back in the late '60s from a neighbor who gave me all his baseball oddball stuff when they moved. That's where I got the 1964 push-pull of Mantle/Berra I've posted before, so that may help to date it...

[edited to add Yogi's "flip" and other shots below)

While I was reminiscing, I thought I'd add some shots I found I still have in Photobucket. These were part of the oddball stuff given to me. The Berra and Musial were cut out of a comic book according to the graphics on the back. The Rizzuto is a metal pic...

Nice push-pull...those are TUFF!!! When I bought these figures they were labeled "1950's baseball players". Don't know if they're that old but maybe they are.
  • If they have a small indented circle on the back or base with a M or V shape they were more than likely made by Marx toy co. like these.
