Milwaukee coin dealer murdered

Yes, this is negative but I think it needs to be known.
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee police are trying to find the person who attacked and killed the owner of the Celebrity Coin and Stamp store in the 41-hundred block of South Howell Friday.
Police say a customer found 64-year old owner Les Sorenson of Muskego behind the store's counter lying in a pool of blood.
Friday night, Les Sorenson died at the hospital.
Judy Barwick knows Sorenson. "He was a real caring honest person. He didn't deserve it."
Sorenson sold gold and silver coins, celebrity autographs and rare stamps at his store.
"We really need people to rack their brains. If you saw anyone coming out of the store today (Friday), and we want to talk to anyone who was in the store", says Anne Schwartz of the Milwaukee Police Department.

Sad story.
<< <i>Did it mention if anything was stolen? >>
Not at this time. Apparently the story is still developing and probably more details will be coming out in the days ahead.

More details: He was killed sometime before noon when someone came into the shop and found him. Cause of death is described
as severe head trauma. Police are not saying if anything was taken or if the store had security cameras or not.
Probably serve a light sentence with color TV and then come out and live the good life with what he stole from a hard worker who chose work instead of crime.
I am beginning to believe, crime does pay. jws

Michigan, do you know what schadenfreude means? >>
No, but it sounds like something Rose Nylan would say on "The Golden Girls".
<< <i>Sad. It's not just eBay and the Internet that's driving out all the small brick-and-mortar coin shops. >>
People get murdered all the time. What difference does it make if it was a coin shop or a meat market.
Hell, it was a human life!
<< <i>Michigan, do you know what schadenfreude means? >>
I know what it means, but don't get the reference.
<< <i>People get murdered all the time. What difference does it make if it was a coin shop or a meat market. >>
The difference is that lowlife scum is less likely to kill a meat market shop owner so he can fence a couple sides of beef.
It's not that the life is worth any more or less; it's that the occupation is so much riskier than most other kind of shops.

Well put
I don't think anyone should or would get gratification from some one's misfortune.

I have to agree, because they rob the 5 and dime shop down the street they are only getting the cash thats in the register, they rob a coin dealer they have the cash register and the store deals in money so everything in the whole store has some value. it about like a jewelery store, they would get robbed before the quicky mart right beside it if the robbers are going to rob someone anyway why not get the most for the time

I get no satisfaction over the misfortune of others.
I have no doubt that you abhor all misfortune. Just giving a definition.

You need to read or listen to the news more often. Minimarts/ convenience stores are usually the ones to get hit every day. Sometimes a couple of times a day.

How many mini-marts are there per coin shop?
I don't know why you're insisting on taking what I said out of context. I don't think I've ever done anything to you here.

I don't agree. Michigan posts many intelligent and positive articles about news all over the world. He does this on the Darkside, here, and on the Open Forum too.

Coinosaurus, IMO that was inappropriate.

Michigan posts pretty much all of the numismatic news items of the day. It's not his fault that so many of them are bad.
Personally, I'm glad he posts so many news items. I rarely go off seeking numismatic related news items on my own.

It being a coin shop hits home a little more on this forum. Also, the site is a mere 6 blocks from the location of the South Shore shows are at Howell and Layton.

Indeed. Let's not confuse important news for many of the people on this site and
the person that brings it to us. I appreciate all the news that gets posted here whether
it's good or bad and Michigan brings plenty of both.
I've never been in this guys shop but I think I've seen him at shows.
Now, if we can just get Michigan to turn on his PM...

I don't think that applies to Michigan, but it fits Iwog like a glove.

Yes; I have been trying to PM Michigan for hours. Heck, he's just a stand up fella in my opinion. I really can't believe anyone actually thinks for a millisecond that Michigan has a mean bone in his body.
I'd be willing to bet money that his charitable contributions to worthy causes are significant. jmo and I'm entitled to it. jws
One perpetrator was shot and killed, the other paralyzed by shots fired by one of the store owners. These two young men, I believe, were not intending to kill , wound or maim, but only to run off with some cash.
That moral is : if you live by the sword.....
The stress has closed down a very well run little pawn broker in the heart of where I grew up. Although, I've considered opening a coin store in Benson... the risks are far less on a steep pitched roof, thirty feet in the air.
I cannot imagine what it is like taking another person's life, even in self defense.
I'll take my chances on a roof and ebay ! Them boys can break into the safe deposit box at the bank and shoot them up !
You guys that refuse to buy on ebay might re-consider on this thread, alone.
Just cuz the neighborhood is bad doesn't make the neighbor that way.
