Record high for 1971 Topps hockey !!

Ok am i missing something here?? I understand an OPC set going this high. Or higher for that matter.
I'm so confused
Goes to show you that people have more money then brains. I have seen the nicest 1971 Topp sets with cards that were centered better then this auction go for 350.00 max.
This one is at 899.99 and not even over yet !!
Can somebody make any sense to this for me ?

When DSL pulls out at 503.00, you know you have reached the maximum turnover level.....

The same buyer just picked up a 1971 PSA set, all 8s, one OC, for $2000. It kind of makes me wonder what my set at 8.80 GPA and Bob's set with a 9.20 GPA might be worth. I may just list my set on ebay.

Wow. I actually have this set myself. Still raw and in roughly NM-MT condition. When my house got buglarized over a decade ago, the bulk of my expensive collection was stolen, but the thief left behind a complete Topps 68-69, 71-72, and 73-74 hockey set.

Well DSL is up to 925.00 and this guy still has 2 bids higher. Don't know if he is trying to impress somebody (lol) or trying to send a message to other people interested in building this set. Well he has sent a message to me and i'm building the set as well. Unfortunely i am not allowed to the language on this board i would like to use. But in general i guess you can call him a fool. And fools always lose out. Especially with there money. Now every dealer out there with low pop 9's,10's and nice sets are going to be all over e-bay with there sets and of course getting people to bid the auctions up especially once they see this FOOL has bid on the item.
Well if you were ever going to get rid of your set gameused hoop, now is the time to do it !! Make sure you add a few thous to the buy it now !! You will get top money for it at least.

Unreal. It's a 8$ a card right now, the Dryden looks no better than an 8 (given the centering) and 70% of the rest of the stars are OC. This set frequently comes with a lot of oversized cards, so I guess DSL figured that if they pull out the Ingento they could could flip it for $1300 or so after grading fees, but even that seems like a stretch.

I sold this set for $350 last month on EBAY. The quality was the same and I had the Orr, Dryden, Espo and 5 other cards graded PSA 8 included.

Frank, your set was even a better deal than that. It was only $295 with the shipping, I know, I bought it. Not only did it have Orr, Dryden, Mikita, and T. Esposito in PSA 8 already, it was overall very nice. So nice in fact I sent in 47 cards to PSA and received 34 8s and 2 9s. Some of the 8s were Plante, Cournoyer, Bobby Hull, Perreault, Sanderson, and the Checklist. Here is the submission:

I really don't see how this other set can even approach this one in overall quality, especially at 3+ times the price.
With prices like this being paid I am happy that my set is done, except for a few upgrades as I go. Having a GPA at 8.77 doesn't hurt either. Now to catch Bob at the 9.17 GPA, I'm not going there.

That is a quite an insulting comment. I guess you are entitled to your opinion.
