Help with 1878 8TF VAM Identification

moosesrmoosesr Posts: 1,966 ✭✭✭
I am using my 8 TF Attribution guide and have been trying to buy some lower grade 1878 8TF VAM's unattributed and am having difficulty identifying this one. Link Since the picture is not very good I looked at the die cracks and cannot find a match in my book. Can someone give me an opinion on what VAM this coin might be or are the pictures just too poor to make any kind of identification?

Thanks,
Charlie

I'm pretty sure it's a VAM-14.1. Note the metal above the M and at the star on the obverse. image

    Charlie:

I had the same problem with this coin when I tried to attribute it. The photos just aren't good enough for me to make anything out for sure. I keep looking at VAMs 14 to 14.3
    When in doubt, don't.

I think you are right Wayne, I also see a dot next to the 6th star on the right.

Slight correction. VAM-14.1A, a step up in rarity.
