Google Checkout: Sign-Up Traffic Heavy

Originally expected to be a PayPal alternative,
it turns out google's checkout is just another
mundane merchant-clearing middleman. If
you have a merchant account, you probably
do not need this thing.
I went through the sign-up process three-times
before I gave up. It appears that their servers
are over worked today. The forms just kept
recycling and asking the same questions over
and over again. (My friend had the same
experience in a different part of the country.)
The TOS doc is full of the same kind of weasel
words that PayPal uses. The fee is 2% plus
20-cents; pretty cheap, but many merchant
accounts (COSTCO Platinum) are cheaper or
the same.
It appears that this thing is primarily for stand-alone
online stores AND not suited to interface with eBay.
It looks like it works just like the basket thingy on
Amazon.
No competition for PayPal.
I may try to register again, may not.
