Anybody know what this item is worth?

Hello all,

I don't know much about stamps or First Day Commemoratives.

Does anybody know the approximate value for this item?

I like the toning on the coin. The envelope looks like it's never been opened.
There is a fingerprint visible on the coin. Must have been put there by the
person at the mint. Sigh.

The 25-new pence coin pictured catalogs for only $1.75 in the 2004 Krause (I've momentarily mislaid my new 2006). They were struck in silver and in copper-nickel, but the silvers were proofs, which that plainly isn't.

Of course the first day cover adds interest and probably some additonal value, but how much, I couldn't say. My wild guess? I wouldn't be surprised to see it fetch $5-10 on eBay. In fact, some looking at closed eBay auctions might reveal such an item.

Not supremely valuable, but a neat item nonetheless.

How long do those auctions stay around and how do you access them?

I don't know how long items stay around, it may depend on the total number of items in the category. Access to completed listings is through advanced search, then check the completed listing only box.

Nice item but first days covers don't seem to bring too much of a premium over the item itself. In fact I have picked up some very nice coins cheaply by getting them out of first day covers
