A couple of Newps one with a lion

Here are a couple new ones - nice lion but looks like a long ago cleaning and a one year type from Paraguay.

    I've got a complete set of those, unfortunately only a few later dates in unc. Early dates are very difficult to find in higher grades. Interesting piece of numismatic trivia about these is that most collectors consider the 1876 Venezolano to be the first coin in the series, even though technically it's an entirely different denomination. image

    I've not seen any examples of that Paraguayan type before. Interesting.

    Those Belgian lions are shockingly cheap- I have come across many in lower grades in bulk lots. I think I still have a few around, but probably not as nice as the one you have there. They are handsome pieces.
