Yes, this coin seems to show up on ebay every several months & I believe I have seen it for sale in World Coin News several times as well. I think it was recently on ebay with the "buy it now" feature at around 500 USD.
Love that Milled British (1830-1960) Well, just Love coins, period.
My mind tells me to click "Bid Now" and bid a whole lot of money! My hand urges me to click the button. My stomach wants food and My wallet speaks differently

A lot of the Caribean gold has been destroyed due to lack of interest and high face values. Those with high face values are returned to their home countries and redeemed. Most of those redeemed are probably melted. This will have a dramatic impact on the number of surviving pieces. There is also some destruction of coins with lower face values than gold weight but not so great.
This doesn't affect the '95 $100 so much because of the very low mintage and the fact that it's always been worth more as gold than money but it's likely at least a few were destroyed in the mid-'90's when demand for all coins was very weak. This one also has always had a small very specific demand but it can be difficult to match supply and demand when both are tiny. This was especially true in the pre-internet day.

Makes me think that the silver one for $200 is there as a bait to make the gold one look like a bargain.
