From what I can see, it looks like a great card.
Now the dumb question...
Was he a really good player? HOF?
That's a lot of money - or is this a registry thing?
thanx and good luck
mike
(1) He led the Canadiens to the Stanley Cup in 1971, coming in as a late-season call-up from the minors, and winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, all of this BEFORE his true rookie season. He won the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year in 1971-72, and to this day is still the only player to win a major trophy the season before winning rookie of the year.
(2) Playing only 7 full seasons in the NHL, he won the Vezina Trophy as top goaltender five times, and backstopped the Canadiens to six Stanley Cups. In 1973-74 he left hockey in order to finish his law degree at Cornell before resuming his career with the Candiens.
As for the registry thing. Well it is obvious that the Dryden has a very large weighting in the set. Somebody with a PSA 9 over a PSA 8 can have less PSA 9's in the set and still be in first place. I believe there are only 5 or 6 PSA 9's so people building the sets will be trying to get a PSA 9 Dryden to break away from the others. Then you have alot of Dryden fans who are not building set so supply and demand will fall into place. Like usual the SMR is off on this one. But that is to be expected with low pop cards, especially Star Cards.
Dryden will always be remembered as one of the best goalies in hockey history.
Well back to work. I'll see how they do when i get home.
Thanks guys
Steve
