I did pretty good on wednesday nites too. Lots of people ending on sunday nite because of the holiday = more chance your cards get missed or forgotten.
I'm ending my father in law's on wednesday this time.
i've ended many auctions on or near holidays without a hitch, although i'd assume closing on the night of july 4 might be a tad suicidal....depends what you are offering, too
Is putting paste between your toes to make you more like a duck a good idea? I don't know. However, wait until the Holiday weekend passes. A lot of people are out of town and don't have access to their computers. You won't get that last minute push that sometimes separates a good sale from a so-so one. Anyway, why enter any doubt into your equation. This way you won't second guess yourself.
Hope that helps and I do know what I'm talking about aside from the duck/paste/toe thing.

Zef - ending an auction over a holiday weekend has more disadvantages than advantages. You'll miss those who won't bid either because of being out of town or being too drunk.
As far as the duck thing, I hope that's an inside joke that nobody but you two get. Otherwise, I'm wondering what the heck that crack was about?

Well, you know, if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck....

I know it's a word play on Mr. Robinson's advice to Ben, but why?

I generally have all of my listings end on Weds nites.....thus I am sitting home and listing cards as they are ending......
I think I may just do my listing tomorrow nite and make them all 10 day jobs so they end on thursday. I have a bad feeling about Weds nite next week.

I just played the theme from the Graduate backwards and I got a interesting reference to the fact that Ben has an evil twin lurking somewhere...
His Doppleganger is not a stranger, he's not an arranger, doesn't live in a manger, try not to anger, since he's back...
Back where?
