1933-B Swiss 10-rappen piece not listed in Krause. Why?

I have one! It is a nice VF+ coin. Clearly dated 1933.

But the only 1930s 10-rappen piece my 2004 and 2006 Krause catalogs list is the 1931-B.

Hm. I just found three online, so apparently it ain't rare.

Funny how Krause doesn't list it?

Oh, here's another funny one. The 1953 Iranian 1-rial piece is listed with a mintage of 3 pieces, and Krause has a note below that states "Much rarer than mintage would indicate". Ha! Rarer than THREE?

And the prices for that one start at four dollars. image

  • Check the last listings for Swiss 10 rappen. For unknown reasons the brass and nickel pieces are listed after the copper-nickel ones. image

They used to have a mintage of 3.320 million for the 1332 (1953) rial.

In the 1930s only 1935 is absent. Your 1933 10rp. had a mintage of 2,000,000

Krause doesn't list any EA strikes for all of the minors, but they do exist for many of the years, but not all.

Judging by how Iranian coins sell, sounds about right $4 for one with a mintage of three.image

But this one IS copper-ni ...

Oh, wait. I see what you're sayin'. It's nickel, not cupronickel. Hm.

Another case of my not scrutinizing the Krause closely enough, I suppose.

Wonder why they struck them in different compositions like that? image

So apparently they edited the mintage (or survival) total, and forgot to remove the footnote about the mintage/scarcity discrepancy?

OK, here's another Krause related question, O Wise Ones:

Let us discuss the French KM939 50-centime pieces of 1962-64. The 1962 with "4 folds in collar" is obviously a good cherrypick, while the "3 folds in collar" is common.

But how to tell the difference? I see folds everywhere in the collar!? Which folds are we countin', here?

Oh... wait... izzit the ones behind her neck, over the shoulder? image

Ever hear of nickel ammo cartridges?? Maybe the Swiss were a lot smarter than Chamberlain regarding Herr Hitler.image

Yeah, but in 1933, Hitler was just settin' up housekeeping, and hadn't settled into the role of warmonger yet.

... but I suppose the Swiss coulda seen the writing on the wall.
