question about a couple cards I got today

image

the Sullivan is the correct size top to botton on the right edge, but it has way too much material on the top edge from the left to almost the right side. Is it kosher to cut the card to put it in my set? it wont even fit in the sleeve I want to put it in.

the jackson I believe is trimmed. why trim a $2 common you ask? I have no idea. Any input?

    Interesting.

An original owner may trim a card for many reasons that have nothing to do with improving the grade.

Perhaps to fit an album they had, e.g.?

    Just an idea.

The Sullivan card on top looks really strange.

  • John,

If you are going to add this card to your own collection its probably not an issue if you trim it. IMO the only way it becomes a problem is if you ever intend to resell it. If you do resell, just label it as trimmed and explain.

I'm not sure if I could live knowing there is a trimmed card in my set. I'm sure there are a couple, but as long as I dont know about it, I suppose it's no big deal. But this one I WOULD know about!! I think I'm going to ask for a refund on these two cards. Just $2.50 total, but still. The Jackson was labelled as EXMT!! I don't think thats an exmt card.

    whoah....

after looking closely at those pics.....you should be elated with the batch I mailed out to you today.

I hesitate to sell raw stuff not knowing how picky someone may be and having them get the cards and look at them and say WTF!? LOL!!

I've found that people on here grade a lot more stringently than ebay dealers.
