What tha??? ... Anybody home at PSA????

Has anyone experienced this before? I sent a package of cards to PSA Monday this week, and according to the USPS tracking #, this is what the site says:

We attempted to deliver your item at 7:16 am on June 21, 2006 in NEWPORT BEACH, CA 92658 and a notice was left. It can be redelivered or picked up at the Post Office. If the item is unclaimed, it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

What?!?!?! Isnt' the address a PO Box? How can nobody be home? Only thing that strikes odd to me is the 7:16am delivery time. MAN THAT'S EARLY! Most businesses aren't open at that time... what about post offices?

I just don't want my package to sit on some Post Office shelf waiting for someone to come get it, and have it returned to me in a week and a half.... that would blow about 3 weeks of the wait time. : (

I called PSA's customer service, and the guy I spoke to was as clueless as I am. He suggested I wait a couple more days.... well, I can do that. Guess I have no choice!

Anyone else see this before submitting to PSA?

... oh ya, one more thing... yes, the address was written on the package correctly, I actually have a copy of it.

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

Your package was likely picked up yesterday, or will be today.

The circumstances you describe are routine at POs for notice
of items that are addressed to P.O. Boxes and need to be
    signed for.

OneFast: Don't worry, the USPS website is more often a source of stress than useful info. They will probably reattempt delivery and it'll get dropped in the hopper with all the others. BTW: I noticed your other post and I'll be diggin' around for some Sabo cards for ya...Will let ya know. Take care ITZ

    I'll keep my eyes peeled...

itzagoner... Thanks! Just PM-me if you find anything! You may have to rescue them from common's boxes!

  • Another thing, if you sent the package REGISTERED, it is stored in a PO safe.

It is stressful, but don't sweat it too terribly much.
  • yeah i've found that every time i get myself worked up into a lather over some problem like this with psa, it always ends up resolving itself and then i feel dumb for stressing out for no reason.. more often than not, it's just a matter of time for things to work through the system..

They don't have a physical "box" at the post office. They have a ghost box, the mail gets held at the gmf general mail facility and a courier from psa comes and picks it up/signs for everything. Once in a while the clerks at the gmf scan all the insureds (maybe a new clerk?) and when the scanner downloads the info goes to the web site.

Most big companies that don't get street delivery have a ghost box. We have 6 at our little rural office in a small town.

The clerks at my office (including my wife) start between 4:30 and 5 am, earlier on saturdays and mondays. In the processing plant they work all nite.
