Ordered Via the Web Site !!!

I put two orders in, the order numbers are 1000 a part, within about 5 minutes.

    I guess there's only 299,000 left.

"In order to ensure the broadest and most fair access to United States Mint products, a limit of 10 units per order and per household is in effect. Accordingly, all orders for American Buffalo Gold Proof One Ounce Coins will go immediately into a backorder status to ensure compliance with this policy. This quality assurance process should not impact the estimated delivery time. The United States Mint may reevaluate this limit and either adjust or remove it at any time."

Yet somehow the usual subjects (ebay price gougers) manage to get as many as they want. It ain't hard to game the online system, much less the phone operators.

Speculate and buy them up. with 200,000+ or is that 300,000...

..... they'll be as common and easy to get as an 1892 Columbian Half Dollar. Why ? Cuz they'll be flooding the market. >>

<< <i>Was on hold for about 5 minutes. Delivery is expected in approximately six weeks. Shipping is $4.95 no matter how many coins are ordered, via FedEx.

    Cheers,
    Michael >>

    SIX WEEKS image ?
that gives them just enough time to halt sales and raise prices ! image
I thought these coins were already minted. Isn't June 22nd the date of release on the website ? FIRST DAY OF SALE ? How come when I order everything else, including PLATINUM proofs they are able to ship same day ? This smells like the back end of a buffalo.

edit to add: Good day , Mitch image

TwoSides: They say that the coins have been put on backorder so that they can make sure that the limit of 10 per household is maintained.

    It's the "herd" mentality.

Hell, I might even be tempted to buy one even when I said I wasn't.

Easy!! Got mine in a flash!! I put in 20 orders for 10 each on different cards and addresses.

    I'm pre-selling them at $3500 each for PCGS PF70DCAM (Registered shipping/insurance is extra).imageimageimage

I'll submit yours directly to PCGS........oh yeah, there is a 20% re-stocking fee in the event they don't quite go "PF70DCAM".imageimage

I was able to get in, place my order and have gotten a confimation from them. It is on back order with expected shipping date of July 13th.

July 31? Wow, a long way off with the gold market up and down. They could be worth $100 less by the time they're shipped.

Put your order in. You can always cancel and you can always send it back within 30 days. It's a no lose situation, unless you don't order one.

I hope they sell a lot of them. That way they'll be much cheaper when I buy mine in the secondary market.image

i heard that. i didn't think i would be able to either. the price dropped helped and just the way things were coming down these last few days, it looks like the bullion version should be plentiful around spot price for the forseeable future. I'd like to someday have both and as they always say, buy the keys first. just got in a few minutes ago without website trouble.
thankful to have a coin like this, can't wait to see it.

This statement about ordering and cancelling and returning may have just got me off the fence.

Why not order and wait to see if it sells out. If you are worried, cancel, or return it 28 days later and get your money back.

I was considering the Uncirculated version.
I see it will cost around $650 shipped so I decided the proof was the way to go for an additional $150.

Just placed mine at the Mint site and my order states:

2006 American Buffalo Gold Proof One Ounce Coin (BA6)
    Backordered shipdate: 2006-06-28

Honest curious, what makes you claim these are "going fast". I was expecting a link to some sort of 24 hour sales figure not a link to the Mint page selling these.

OK I put 4 on order. I hope they sellout before they ship. If so I will get them all. Or maybe I will let them ship and return the unwanted portion if they do not sellout quick enough. If they sellout qucikly I will let them ship and get my money on the aftermarket.

    Here goes rollin the dice.
