Would anyone be interested in posting the sequence of their rack/cello pack breaks in a thread like this, to start establishing patterns?

Your best bet is just to e-mail 4SC and ask them for their master sequence list.

LOL-- I'm sure they're just dying to give that up.
On a very lame (but related) note, I do know that if you look through '89 Donruss wax packs the Griffey is generally followed by the Ted Higuera, Alan Trammell MVP, Kevin Seitzer, Mike Young, Mike Smithson, George Brett MVP, and a bunch of other card which I've now forgotten. So if you see any of those on the bottom you may have a 'hot pack' (har har).
Also, the Ray Fontenot comes before the McGwire in '87 Topps racks.
Cheers!

There is a pattern to the 1989 Upper Deck where you open the first pack reveal the rookie and counf from that number starting over a one with the last one. Griffey will be in the next pack. I am not sure where you start at and which direction you count in though.
WTB: 2001 Leaf Rookies & Stars Longevity: Ryan Jensen #/25
on 89 upper deck take the bottom pack of a row if that packs has a rookie # 2-9 griffey is in that row(of box is in same order from factory)
for example if you get #5 Jeffries count up the next pack up is #4, next #3, next #2 then Griffey so to make it easy
#5 is bottom pack in a row 4 packs up is Griffey

I know the patterns for 89 Fleer but once I told a guy who said he was just curious and planned on opening his case and wanted to know the errors in there. I assumed he was just anxious. Well he now has cello boxes on ebay for sale everyday,(toyototom or similar) along with many of the stars...so I wont make that mistake again. The only reason someone would want to know is to re-sell the searched packs right? Or to buy single packs with a star inside. Those usually stand out as they go for more than normal already.
Sure does ruin buying boxes anymore. Thanks Fleer. Even cases I buy are resealed in many different ways. In 89 when tape was new you could get that Fleer Factory tape off (using something common) and re-seal and you'd never know. Scary.
In old mags classifieds you could buy the patterns for $1 or 2. I wonder how many people that know patterns still do that?
In MOST racks the Griffey is after the Johnson by 7 or so cards. In my experiences. (3)

When we had the shop in the early 1990s I remember a case of Wild Card chrome jumbos(I think). Instead of the one insert per pack it had 14 inserts and one regular card per pack. It was a crazy but fun case to rip.

Once I pulled a 89 Topps card in a 89 Donruss pack. The Topps card was in the middle with a wax stain. Never visited that dealer again.
<< <i>I know the sequence for Roger Staubach's rookie card although the card is often off centered. >>
Does that mean that he is on the top or bottom of the unopened pack or is there really a sequence? I have seen many showing through packs.

greg - could you expand on this please? what year are you talking about? 1981?
Many times there is a pack sequence in the boxes. I remember even ad far back as early SC issues with the First Day cards, it was awlays the 3rd pack up usually in the front right row.
With newer packs I can actually tell by the weight of the pack just by holding it in my hand.

My favorite is 1978 OPC baseball packs---Doug Decinces on top next card--MURRAY... Haven't missed yet!!
<< <i>Whats also crazy is I know you can feel or whatever to pull GU but now I see packs with a guaranteed autograph in it. Not just the Topps racks that you can see but in Heritage packs. Must be in a certain spot in the box or ?? Then they use metal detectors I heard to find printing plates !! And I thought Upper Decks new tamper resistant pack in 89 was the answer to everything !! >>
In the case of Press Pass football, the autographs are easy to find (I swear I've only done this with my own boxes) - the reason for this is that they don't have any foil stamping on them in the name area. So if you slide the cards back and forth, the autographs slide differently than any others.
