What is the best tamperproof waxpack of the 80's and 90's?

I ask b/c I just bought an 1989 Pro Set box at a flea market (3.00 I will add) and I love the plastic packaging. You can tell if it has been pulled or whatnot b/c of the stress it shows. I am sure there are ways around it, but at least it got me thinking. What card company was ahead of the game

As a reference to the departure from 'wax' - in 1983 Topps made their first "sealed" packs like the modern ones of today - it was regionally tried out - also called "Michigan packs" I believe.

    89 upperdeck.
  • True, I somewhat dated myself with the wax term. Just saying packs in general. The foil Upper Deck was something new too...

The early packs were some kind of "mylar" material I believe.

The selling point was that they were "tamper evident" - but some would go to extreme lengths to carefully open then and reseal.

Everyone thought they were 'bullet proof' when purchasing the really hot 1990 Leaf product.

    Thomas was so hot!!!

    Enter the thieves!
