What happens when you rip wax from '51

Wouldn't want to try the gum. Is that really gum?

  • Imagine having the chance to rip one of said packs and not have a care in the world if you get no stars, cards that are in low grade condition.

    One can dream...
    Carpe Diem
  • That gum looks nasty lol But then again, it is over 55 years old.
  • I remember awhile back Mr Mint had some sort of jumbo pack that contained the red back panels, team cards, and Connie Mack All stars all in one. One of the most incredible things I have ever seen........

bassballfanatic, there was just one of the game packs you are talking about in mile high.

as for this pack . WHAT AN IDIOT!!!! I can't imagine what that would sell for if it was still sealed.
  • Thats what the pack looked like! I'll have to see if I can dig up the old auction flyer and see if its the exact same pack. I think the price was a steal (Mile High) considering the rarity of it, but I couldnt even imagine the thrill of busting it. Simply gorgeous either way........

I don't think they're rare. There was a huge find back about 20 years ago and 51 packs had been selling cheaper than some 70s packs (but I forget which backs they were).

    They were Red Backs
  • There was a huge find of regular Red Back packs some time back, but not the combo packs. I can remember them sitting around at 75 bucks a box many years ago because they just werent moving. Even yet when I see individual packs for sale, my memory reminds me of how plentiful they were when they were just gathering dust....
