I know it sounds stupid but if anyone has the 6/30 issue of SCD look in the inside page where Mr.Mint is boasting that he bought 2 sealed rack cases of 1976 baseball. He is holding them up like they are empty cases. Both together would strain a person more than that. The tape doesnt look secure at the top either. Could this be a posed picture? I know , who even cares....

"I don't collect baseball cards. I don't collect baseball memorabilia. I don't have one item in my collection. I liken it to the shoemaker who doesn't keep shoes and the baker who doesn't keep bread."
Nothing wrong with a buy&flip mentality, but man, he doesn't even collect. I wonder if he likes the sport.

Truthfully, it looks like the box on the top doesn't even have a lid. Definately a pose. I bet the packs were already on their way to GAI for grading.

and to carry the moniker "From the Alan "Mr. Mint" unopened rack case find"............
Best.
"I have one word for you, Ben... Spastics. Got it? Good. Enough said."

For those without SCD.
It almost looks like he's ready to break into some kind of "levitation" act! I guess "Big Al" is in better shape than I thought!
Also, and disappointing - SCD was at 60 pages! My local "Welcome Home" free newspaper was bigger than that!

Flip-ping Cha-Ching!
It's like some people still haven't got the word that 50s baseball cards are worth money. Unbelievable.

The owner of a copy machine and antique business in days gone by.........
And he can look kind of egotistic, at times.
But, IMO, he's a very intelligent and savvy business guy who is very successful in the hobby.
His first book is kind of fun to read and you can get a used copy from Barnes and Nobel used on-line cheap I would guess.
I remember how he talked about his first "buy." He borrowed money from everyone including his mother-in-law I believe and drove home afterward with all kinds of trepidation about how much he had just spent! I believe it was close to 100K? Well, he did a quick flip and made way more money than he did with copy machines and was hooked - rest is history.

<< <i>Do you really think that he sent off all those racks to get graded? I would have thought that he would have sold them on his new ads in SCD. Can anyone guess what a rack case of 1976 is worth sealed? My guess would be 8000.00+. I would have thought is was worth more money sealed than opened> >>
Don't know if Al would bother to grade '76 Racks....To him that's New Stuff
Typical Conversation with Al Rosen if you are trying to sell him something:
Seller: Hi Al, I'm interested in selling these two 1976 Topps Rack Cases
Al: Ah, ha, ha, ha! I've got 200 of those in my warehouse! Ah, ha, ha, ha!
Seller: Ok, so how much would you pay?
Al: Lemme make a phone call........
