errr, maybe not so much in this case..

me thinks someone got screwed by the mythical 316 grader.. (and i can verify," 316" was handing out "OC" cards like crazy this month)..

these cards arent mine, i just noticed them on ebay..
the first 3 are all PSA 8 examples..

What about the back of the Dorish? ...that is probably where the problem is......

i dunno, but if they gave it a OC because of the back, thats also highly unusual..

I wish I could scan a card here.....but cannot..........On the back of the 55 Bowmans is a black rectangle witht the name and number of the card............if there is no tan space to the left of the "black name tag" then the card gets OC.

I learned this from our expert on 55 Bowmans...mikeschmidt

    ...and that ain't no spam....image

The front of 1955 Bowman cards have very wide borders.

The back of 1955 Bowman cards have exceptionally narrow borders - almost on the level of 1954 Wilson Franks. The printing process of 1955 Bowmans lent itself naturally to not having front and back alignments, not to mention the size variations seen throughout the set.
The back centering on many examples can be worse than 100/0, which means it will get a qualifier.

Also, on the Dorish card, look at the top to bottom centering. Everyone focuses on the left to right centering because the borders are much wider. I'm not going to take out a loupe or start counting pixels, but on that Dorish, the sliver off dark wood grain on the top looks to be less than half as wide as the dark wood grain border going across the bottom.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I would agree with Mike on the top to bottom centering. I sold all my 55 raw bowmans that were oc on the back reagardless of how mint they looked or how well centered the front was...based on the advice of Mike...thanks again!!
