Just busted two 1975 Topps Baseball Racks - scans

I bought two off of ebay from SCGaynor - Yaz top, Yaz bottom (about $135 each w/ shipping). I've busted about 10 this year - these were two nice ones. No m/c cards and only 9 o/c cards (75/25) - lots of potential 9's and a couple of potential 10's. Not alot of duplication suprisingly enough.

Here's a few more... Does anyone know why Topps chose to put the All Star designation on Aaron #1 instead of #660?

Definitely have some strong 9s with a few 10s mixed in there at first glance! Good luck with those!

    Very nice Mike!

Ya got some really nice cards. The Yaz's are gonna be close T/B?

    Corners and color are fantastic!

Overall, that's a sweet Young RC! Has a shot at a weak 9 - due to centering R/L but I'ld hit it!

    Congratulations on an excellent pull.
Let us know how you do on the submission.

Keep the streak going, Mike. It's good to hear some positive news out of pack breaks!

Out of curiosity, did you pull the Hank Arron RB with the Yount card? I think I busted those two together a couple months back?

Yes they were one on top of the other. I've pulled two other Younts, but never with the #1 Aaron. I know others have found #660 Aaron with Yaz, but not in either of these two.

Some great looking cards there Mike! The centering on most is pretty decent too. Good luck submitting if that's what you're going to do.

I just happened to notice Mike Cuellar's name is misspelled on his card.

That was the first thing I noticed--they did it on his rookie. I didn't think Topps did it on any others.

BTW sweet looking Rose and Sutton!
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Mike , great pulls but it is sac religious to bust 2 packs with yaz showing , by the way great price for those . where they on ebay?

edit: answered my own question , they were listed in the wrong category which is why you got them so cheap. nice deal but still a shame to bust them.

Here's a few more... Does anyone know why Topps chose to put the All Star designation on Aaron #1 instead of #660?

Hank was an N.L all star, so I believe because #660 shows him with the Brewers and since back then they were in the A.L., topps probably figured it would make more sense to put the All star designation on #1 which shows him in his Braves uniform.

The grades were disappointing; everything was about one grade lower than I was used to for 75's of similar condition... Best looking bunch of 8's you'd ever see.

  • Both of the Yaz scans look nice. How did one of them get a 6?
  • ElemenopeoElemenopeo Posts: 2,577 ✭✭

Dang. Those ARE some harsh grades judging by the look of those scans. Any temptation to crack and resubmit?

  • Bosox1976Bosox1976 Posts: 8,564 ✭✭✭✭✭
Yaz got a 6 because of a tiny bit of chipping on the right edge (and I mean tiny). The yaz on the left got the 6. I think I resubmitted the Carew for a 9, but didn't do more as I was already into them for about $450 and didn't want to go in deeper (and the $5 special had just ended).

    Guys:

They are long gone. I busted about 10 racks, sold off the 10's and some star 9's and low pops and the rest went in one lot (a fellow board member bought them).

    Here was the thread: link

I think they actually sold on ebay rather than the boards, but it was a heckuva nice run of cards.
