Greyside Grades Received

Further evidence, I think, of how tight PCGS is grading Canadian right now. Not ridiculous, just very conservative.
1 10161834 1859/8 1C Wide 9 CANADA Cleaning ........................Expected AU-58 Have no idea why they think this is cleaned.
2 10161835 1891 1C Lg Dt Lg Lv CANADA MS63RB ......................Okay - NGC 64RB crack out. IMHO NGC sucks on Canadian, so I expected the downgrade.
3 10161836 1891 1C SDLL CANADA XF40BN ................................ I graded XF-45
4 10161837 1891 1C SDLL CANADA XF40BN..................................I graded XF-45
5 10161838 1891 1C SDLL CANADA XF45BN..................................Bummer, I graded AU-55, big price difference
6 10161839 1891 1C SDSL CANADA AU55BN.................................Okay, I thought it could go 58 or 60. Scarce obverse 2.
7 10161840 1891 1C LDLL CANADA XF45BN..................................Another I had at AU-55, but I submitted a 1891 SDLL. They have it wrong.
8 10161841 1941-C 1C NFLD MS63RB.........................................Cha ching! Makes up for the rest. It is a re-engraved date, a variety which PCGS does not recognize. Close to finest known I think.
Coin #1 - Cleaned?

I like your registry coins. I was looking at them last night and trying to figure out the differences between the 1859 wide and narrow 9. And what about the double punched variety? -Dan
The 1859 Wide 9 over 8 displays a 9 re-engraved over an 1858 dated die. The Royal Mint started the order for 10 million Canada cents late in 1858. They had made too many 1858 dies and not enough 1859 dies, hence the modification.
The DP#1 is an 1859 die, with a re-engraved 9. It also has a die chip which yields a tail below the 9.
The DP#2 is also an 1859 die, with a re-engraved 9. It has the remnants of the other 9 to the left of the most visible 9. It also shows chipping of the die in the same general area.
1859 cents have many, many types of re-engraved 9's. The #1 and #2 are scarce, but not necessarily the scarcest. They did, however, find recognition and popularity early. The popularity raised demand for a scarce coin, and hence the high prices.
The Charlton catalog has decent photos of all three.
