PSA No Longer Grades Baseball Stamps?

Anyone else have stamps rejected? I had a bunch of 74 stamps graded some time ago but PSA rejected them in my recent submission. I was told that the stamps slip out of current PSA holders.
Someone just paid big bucks for a hoard of 74 Topps Stamps in a recent auction. Whoever it was is going to be very upset if he can't grade the stamps.
The player sets still include the stamps. I guess ths just increases the value of previously graded stamps.

<< <i>I bought stamps just for grading. Take a look at my submission which popped today (I'll post on the board). >>
OUCH.
I'm assuming you get refunded on ALL of those....not just the ones that state "Refund"
I have some stamps in right now for the $5 special. I'm still waiting for the grades to post. As far as I know they still do stamps. I don't see why they wouldn't. PMK sent.

<< <i>I spoke to operations and I was told that if the stamp will not fit in the holder properly they will not holder it so it's a case by case issue. Also, they did check with PSE but apparently they do not have the proper size holder for this. I know this case by case status can be frustrating but we would rather make sure that the product was safe and if not, send it back and send vouchers rather than risk possible damage to the item.

Thanks for clearing that up Carol. I'd get to work on a new holder seems that you guys are leaving alot of coin on the table.

The mold for a new holder would probably cost at least $25,000, so they'd need to grade one hell of a lot of stamps to make for that.

<< <i>I doubt a grading company who used to encapsulate stamps and owns a STAMP GRADING COMPANY would have that much start up cost on a holder. And either they do what they need to do or lose that business to a competitor. >>
It's a question of paying to have the mold made. It doesn't matter if you own a stamp grading company or not-- you still have to kick out for that mold, and believe me when I say those mold makers do not work cheap. I spend a summer working at a place called PlastiFab in Boulder Co., and while the QC grunts like myself had to work 12 hr. shifts cutting flash away from the freshly molded parts with these evil little X-Acto knives the guys in the back room-- i.e, the mold makers- lived the life of Reilly. When I'd go back there and BS with them they told me that molds start at around 13K or so and go up from there, and remember-- you'd have to have TWO molds made (one front and one back) for the holders.
Think of Beckett. They specialilze in modern cards, and to this day they don't have a holder that will accomodate Exquisite cards or anything else that's too thick. The only reason I can think of for that is that it just costs too much to have the mold made. And as far as losing the business to their competition, if you don't have a strong set registry working there's no sense in paying for a mold to hold stamps. I'm guessing PSA thought about it, crunched the numbers, and decided the hell with it.

<< <i>I guess i just can't understand why a stamp grading company would not have a holder that holds a stamp? >>
The thing I don't understand is why they couldn't just use an oversized holder and bust out the condom on the undersized stamps.

<< <i>That was my thought at first. Thats why they use the condom. It just makes no sense and is really frustrating. >>
Indeed. And if they're not going to grade them them anymore then the one's floating around out there should not be allowed in registries. That, to me, is just common sense.

Several of my sets list the stamps. If they are a no-go then pull them all, but as long as they are there then they should except them.

I have asked for YEARS for PSA to make a list of cards they don't grade to save every one the headache.
