Is the mintage really around 10,000 coins and how scarce are they in PCGS 65 and 66?image

Anybody know anything about demand for these coins?...I like that they have United States of America on them...should generate some interest?

We have a few resident Philippine coin experts on board , they probably have not seen your post yet - but when they do you will get a good answer I'm sure.

Yes, the mintage is correct. Philly did not plan to strike any 1904 silver for circulation, but a gentlemen named Farran Zerbe (who you probably know) convinced mint officials to issue 10,000 "mint" sets to sell at the Louisiana Purchase Expo that year. The coins are proof-like and are often found in high grades. In 65, they should fetch over $300 each. In 66, possibly twice that.

Along with JustHavingFun, FilamCoins is one of the true Philippines experts here and the information he's provided is excellent. I'll just add an image of my four coin 1904 silver set. FilamCoins noted the 1904 coins were a special mintage and as can be seen in my image they are well struck. There were also 1,355 proof sets minted. It's often difficult to differentiate a special mint set coin from a proof.

JHF is the true expert around here. He's pretty busy these days, but may surprise us with a "cameo" appearance.

I never get tired of looking at your type set Mr USAROK. The eye appeal is second to none! image
