to open or not? that is the question

Just bought a 1962 5cent pack topps NFL off of the bay. should I open and pray or just get graded?
When is psa going to start grading packs? anybody know? opinions more than welcome.

    bust it open if you do not collect unopened vintage. I do and cannot seem to do it. I am trying to put together runs of wax, cellos and racks from mid-50s to present. I open duplicates every once in a while. PSA should start pretty soon--an article in SCD by Joe Orlando said that they were wating to get their holders corrected. Should be in the next couple ofminths.

    How has your track record been opening the extras? Good condition? worthy of grades on those unopened 50's and 60's packs?
    or just disappointment and dinged corners?

    That would be me. Haven't bought wax since. Good luck though, I hope your pack is legit.

    The odds are against you..especially if the pack's corners show some wear. I guess it all depends on whether you're willing to risk losing the value of the pack for what may be simply an expensive, momentary thrill that doesn't yield anything of substance. If you've got the resources to where that doesn't bother you, go for it. My opinion? The thing survived unopened for 44 years. Let it live. Open something vintage that's a little more plentiful and costs less.

    Good monstrous. I want to say that pack yielded a PSA 10, but if that's not right I know for a fact that it yielded a couple stunning 9's. Hopefully kurtman will refresh our memory, and maybe even provide some scans (I know you've GOT to still have pictures of those cards somewhere!)

    I hope it legit also. I havent recieved it yet but if it is in good condition, I think I will open the sucker! If there is ANY real wear, she gets slabbed.It is not everyday that you can open a pack of cards from 1962. Heck it didnt cost as much as some modern packs. I will get it next week and see.
