Question About Prices

I checked out the 2005 Standard Catalog of World Coins from my library. How accurate are these prices. How much could i sell them for (a %)? For example, I have an AU 1927 Australian Florin. The EF price is $75. How much is this really worth? THANKS!!!

  • The Kruase values can vary wildly. In my field of 19th century Irish coins the prices are dramatically low. I'd do an ebay auctions ended search to see what they've been going for. Or, check Heritage's website for their archives.
Everything I write is my opinion.

    Looking for alot of crap.

A lot of it's really going to depend on the coin in question. A coin that while having the technical requirements for the grade but bland in appearance might only sell for 50% of Krause, but one that has vivid toning or is blast whight (depending on buyer preference) might sell for above Krause, or even multiples. Pictures are a necessity, IMO.

There is no way that Krause can keep up with the wildly fluctuating market - there are too many countries and changes happening in a year.

There are bound to be Australian price guides published, though I am no expert in this area. Your best bet is to consult the local price guides. If that is a challenge, check out ebay.co.au and find out what examples of that date fetch there.
