Who says snipers are a bad thing

link

I doubt this seller thinks so. Went from 88.00 with one minute left to 455.00.

  • As a buyer..... I'll only place a bid via esnipe. I'm the type of person who will pay well above the norm for an item I really want and alot of other buyers know it. With this said, why should I tip my hand early and place a standing bid? I'm going to lay in the weeds, place my esnipe bid with seconds left to go in the auction. By the time my bid registers the only way I will lose if the current high bidder had a big maximum bid placed or if someone else is sniping.

    As a seller....I love snipers.

  • I am a sniper myself, but I don't use a program most of the time. I have gotten the one second manual snipe to a near art form. There are many sellers on Ebay who think Ebay should ban sniping altogether. I have actually seen sellers say in their listings that if your first bid is placed in the last minute they will refuse the sale.
  • I think sniping is great for eBay -- both for buyers & sellers.

If you're a buyer, you will get the item for as little as possible (it avoids horrific, three-hour-before-the-auction-ends bidding wars) and is exciting to wait until the end to get the final price.

If you're a seller, you can always hope that there are 2 people sniping the card(s) and that the price will soar at the very end. Sometimes, the card(s) may go for more than you ever though possible (i.e., if 2 people both place very high snipes).

How can sellers contradict eBay rules & regulations. Further, why would a seller be so stupid?

It would be unenforceable if a buyer did that, and a seller who did it would need a justified NSS report.

I recommend JustSnipe. Just $5 a month for unlimited snipes, or if you are not that active on eBay, they offer a free service that gives you up to 5 free snipes per week. AuctionStealer gives you 3 free snipes per week with their basic service, but their pay service is more pricey.

I'm with Lothar. For that money I'd go for a card that won't have 50 others in the same grade this time next year.
I just used bidnapper.com tonite, it worked pretty well. I usually use esnipe but it's costing way too much. Justsnipe is good too, but has failed a few times on me in the last 6 months.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

    i use bidnapper.com

$45 for a year unlimited. you could save that much on one auction. i have never had a problem with them
  • Mark:
I've been using esnipe.com for a couple of years now and am very happy with the service they provide. Heck, even if I'm home and available to place a manual snipe, I'll still spend the few pennies and let esnipe place my bid because I'm usually trying to do more things than one and their is a chance that I'll forget about the snipe. Plus, another thing I'm always concerned about is computer lag time (I may place my bid with 5 seconds left in the auction but by the time the computer registers my bid....the auction has ended).

Sniping is a beautiful thing...go through, put in your bids, and be done...no 'oh my god I forgot to bid!' worries, none of it, no hassle at all.

    I use esnipe as well.

Someone here recomended bidnapper to another user and I checked it out. They give you a 10 day free trial and I am loving it. I plan to get a year for $45 when my trial is up. I lost 2 lots of 98-99 SP Authentic rookies the other night to someone who sniped them at 2:00 AM. I was so mad I had to get a snipe service. I am now going to go watch my Tom Beringer movie Sniper and clean my customized Mauser 8mm rifle with the 6-24x50mm scope and lay in the bushes in my yard waiting to snipe my next auction. I may even break out the paintball gun and snipe the mailman when he brings my sniped items.
  • I use a sniping service even if I am around to bid. It is just too easy.

There's an auction advertised in SCD (don't remember what company) that tries to counteract last minute snipes by ENDING the auction fifteen minutes early to anyone who HAS NOT already bid on it. For the final fifteen minutes, only people who have previously bid can place further bids.

    I don't know if I like this or don't.
