1986 Hasbro G.I. Joe Recondo PSA 10 for auction. $0.01 starting bid, $1.00 BIN and $209.00 for shipping and
handling. Wow! We all know what the seller is trying to go here, unless the $209.00 is for a plane ticket to the
buyer's city to personally hand deliver the card.

It takes all types to make the world go 'round...
I think he made a mistake.
It should be $20,900 for shipping.
"No,I listed it for $1 with high shipping so ebay does'nt kill me on final value fees"

I follow the ebay rules and expect everyone else to follow the rules. However, If a mistake is made, I also believe that the person making it should get a chance to fix it. In this case, the seller obviously didn't make a mistake.

Bill Cobb said that Monday they will begin aggressivly enforcing fee advoidance at Ebay live this past week.
"I thought it was perfectly accecptable for Ebay sellers to bend and
stretch the rules for their benefit."
No, it is not.
And, there is a BIG difference between doing something intentionally,
and making a mistake.
Do people really purchase these 1-cent items with HUGE s/h fees attached?
I guess they must, or else eBay would not be complaining about it.

The answer to the Q in the listing does not seem logical/un-stupid.
Q: Hi. Are you aware that your auction says $209.00 for shipping?
A: Yes,I'm trying to avoid FV fees from ebay.anyone interested,I can set up a similar auction.LMK
Also, does anybody know the approximate retail value of the card?

I just feel everyone needs to face up to their mistakes, I do when I make one as a seller on Ebay. That is what is wrong with this world people want to hide behind the "oops, my bad' belief. You make a mistake youe need to be a man and take the consequences.
Well I am through with this.. I am not going to change anyones mind nor will anyone change my mind.
Seller ended the listing.
When I make a mistake I'm a man and will admit it. I'll never try to hide it. Heck, I'll even compensate the person who I made the mistake on (ebay or pharmacy related). However, if by accident I list a Babe Ruth autograph card with a $500 buy it now price, but I meant to list it at $5,000, I'm sure in the hell not going to sell it at the $500 price (and I doubt you would either). I'll be happy to compensate the buyer for his time, but I'm not going to let him take advantage of me to the tune of $4,500. If the buyer doesn't understand that then too damn bad.

What is this new policy?
WOW! Is this card really worht this much?
<< <i>Do you guys really care that Ebay gets their fees? If the buyer and seller make a transaction for X price, and ebay gets .01 or they make the same transaction for X price, and ebay gets $10.00, I'd certainly prefer the first transaction. Ebay is doing well enough, let the poor seller keep his fees.
John >>
Here we go... Yes ebay does well enough without the extra $10. "Let the Poor seller keep his fees". Poor ?! -If he cannot accept losing $10 on his $200+ transaction then he needs to raise his price by $10. So its ok to rip off others that are sucessful? There are rules for a reason. If you dont like them then dont sell on ebay. Go sell some cards down on the corner of your street for FREE. Since I am poor I have a resealed Jordan rookie year wax pack you can buy off of me. I would appretiate it. It would help me out. I resealed it as I cannot afford to keep a $200 pack I bought without any good cards in it. So I resealed it to sell to you. LMK

The problem with this is that like any business that is losing money, eventually how are they going to make up for that lost money?? Like any business they are going to start making their honest customers pay more. I used to be in resturant managment and used to do food cost analysis and the numbers get staggering when you start running them.
Lets say one seller lists all his items at one cent and 24.99. He lists 100 items a week. Ebay loses about 40.00 on the listings alone, and then loses 130.00 on the items in fees when they sell. Now say there are 1000 sellers doing this. That comes to 40,000 and 130,000 a week. I know of one seller who alone lists 2 to 3 thousand such items a week and the more you look the mose similar auctions you find. It might not be as obvious as the 1 cent BIN but it is pretty obvious.

I agree and please dont mention food cost anymore. I used to be in resturant mgmt. for many years and that is still a bad word. Oh how I dont miss that.
Aren't you glad I made an Ebay example instead of employees giving out an extra half ounce of fries on every order for one month... That is one that will just kill you.
Must be one of the scumbag sellers who conduct this practice.
Bottom line is it erodes the buyer base and when the buyers leave it does not take a genius to see that Ebay will be gone as well.
It will also eventually cause Ebay to raise fees moe and more and eventually run off more and more sellers, then when Ebays profits go away guess what No more Ebay.
I hope they are sincere about their new policy. I have no problem reporting these scumbags.
Ebay doesnt care about you!!
Why should they?? They are a business. Their goal is to make money. However those of us who honestly sell on Ebay and follow all the rules owe it to Ebay to protect them. I look at it like this the more money they make from me the more money I am making.

That and ice cream. I will never miss the 16 YO looking at me like I am crazy because I am telling them they are not portioning right.
Maybe Dane recently got fired from over portioning and thus created so much hatred for rules !!
ONLY the seller circumventing the fees
gets a short-term benefit.
Sellers do not pay eBay fees. BUYERS pay eBay
fees when they purchase an item. ALL the money
comes from the buyer; just like a real business.
eBay has to satisfy Wall Street. If they cannot do it
with the current fee structure, they will hike fees.
Sellers will have to raise prices, and some buyers will
spend their money elsewhere.

I can care less about ebay. It's all about the principle for me. Why should a few idiots like you get to avoid the rules? In my professional I see people ever day who should be working to make a living but instead choose to circumvate the system and receive state medicaid. I don't like idiots like you for the way you people choose to live!

WHAT THE HELL does any of that have to do with EBAY charges. What you just stated is against the law. What the Ebay seller is doing is or is atleast in the grey area. I agree with everything you said but man comparing that to buying and selling some baseball cards on Ebay is crazy. And I hate to break it to you but there are those who let the sytem kick them in the balls and others who do the kickin'. I prefer the kickin'. Nice guys will always finsh dead ass last.. I DONT BREAK any law, but unfortunatly or fortunalty for some this great country we live in is full of systems. I didnt put them in place!!
I used the medicaid comparison becuase in both instances people are finding ways to circumvent the rules. In the ebay example, ebay doesn't allow a seller to charge an excessive shipping amount. I agree with you about nice guys finnishing last. Just because a person follows the rules doesn't mean he is a "nice guy". Some people feel that it is best to treat others the way you want them to treat you. However, my rule in life is to treat others the way they treat you. With this said, I can be the nicest guy or the meanest one.....it all depends on the person.

what part of that don't you agree with daney?
Imagine if we all ripped off ebay and other selling venues. ALL of us. There would be no outlet as they are not running a charity and we would have to go back to mail order. Well, I do miss card shows.
If you cannot pay the fees why use their service? You want me to come charge you for car repairs but do nothing as I notice you have money? You dont mind "kickin" the system then it's ok for me to "kick" your way. PM me your address and I will come look at your car. The "system" is made up of people like you and I. I am sure you fit in the "system" somewhere as we all do. Also I know squat about mechanics so I would have "jack" you.

Besides that if a seller is willing to screw Ebay then that tells me a lot about their customer service skills.
Yes it is true Ebay will raise prices, but prices go up on everything that is part of life. If you don't like it why don't you do us all a favor and crawl back under that bridge.
