Need help identifying this coin/medal 1958 vatican city gold. Any other info?
Listed on the flip it was purchased in - .2315 AGW
Coin? Medal? Looks very similar to the 100 lire, but has no denomination. Any additional info would be appreciated.
I was unable to locate it in the World gold coins 5th edition or the 2001 edition of the krause, or on the internet.
This is my first fathers day gift from my daughter(6 months old, her mom helped her purchase it). So this is a keeper!!! I know, I shoulda waited till tomorrow to open it. ;-)
You guys were so helpful last time, I hope someone recognizes it.
Thanks,
Eric

The obverse legends on the Vatican pieces are usually some form of: "Joannes XXIII Pontifex Maximus." Odd obverse legend and for some reason I think it was issued by a private mint in Germany or Switzerland. Still, gold is gold.
gold or silver but is plate.
I sure hope the medal isn't plated.
Can I ask what "real AV and AR" means?

As I mentioned, I do think that these are generally good medal, they probably were just never near the Vatican.
