Neat items.
I learned printing in the late 50's. I made blocks similar to this for short run work. For designs on business cards and so forth.
We'd glue rubber type linoleum to a (7/8th thick?) block of wood.
Then depending on the design, we'd either draw what we wanted or trace it onto the linoleum.
Then with a sharp knife, we'd cut the excess material away leaving just the high spot of the design.
I assume these you have on Ebay have an engraved design in metal due to the print volume.

Yes, they are copper a base of lead, nailed to the block of wood.
