Anyone Here Collect PSA Graded Cards But Never Yet Submit Any Cards?

I own about 800 PSA graded cards and it seems like I'm starting a new set every other week. I've been purchasing PSA graded cards for a little over 3 years now. So far, I have not submitted anything myself, mostly due to a lack of organization on my part. Just curious, anyone else out there have a decent PSA collection yet never submit any themselves?

  • I just submitted my first 12 a few weeks ago. Based on the results I received...lets just say I may never send any in again.

But, there is no thrill like seeing the grades pop online (you know what I mean -- when you see the actual grades and not the status of the cards). Very similar to a cocaine rush, I would imagine.

    Yes and yes.

I only have a couple dozen PSA graded. But I'd like to have them all graded someday.

I have a couple of cards that will probably never be graded, unless I could drop them off and pick them up in person somehow. I just don't trust the mail that much. I guess I could insure them for twice their value ???

I do enjoy talking a bit of smack here and there with you guys....and I've learned quite a bit here.
  • my heart starts beating faster when i get the email that my grades are in on a large submission.. is that normal? image
  • Very normal, my friend!

If you have cards just submit them and don't be afraid to live life. Insure them for their value and send them registered mail and you will not have a problem. Maybe it's just me but I hate when people won't order something from a website or try Ebay because they think everyone is out to rip them off. It's time to join the 21st century in my opinion!

I trust the USPS with my cards... just send them registered mail. It has to be signed for every place the package goes and it always travels under lock & key.

As far as PSA, you shouldn't worry about anything once the cards get there... they'll be safe and they won't be damaged, and nothing shady will occur - you'll get your cards back in the same condition as you sent them.

Thanks guys, I'm less worried about being ripped off than i am about accidents happening image

I'm on a bad luck streak these days, can't seem to get anything right.

Maybe I just don't want to know how bad my Vezina rookie is, most of the damage on my card is from me personally, got when I was 12 in the late 70s and it was just something to play with image

The fun thing to do when a submission pops online is to print it out without looking at it.

Then take the results out of your printer and cover it up.
You can then uncover each card and grade one by one and go through the agony and the ecstasy of each result. image

As to the original question, from my experience,
probably less than half of the the folks who collect PSA graded cards ever actually submit any themselves ...

Thanks montanafan - I take pride in being a good seller, but I'm not really a dealer.

I'm just one of those collectors who constantly needs to sell stuff
in order to raise the funds necessary to help offset their card collecting addiction ... image

Damn, I was wondering if I was the only obsessive/pathetic/insane freak who did that. It's good to know I have some company. My most recent submission was somewhat disappointing, it just popped yesterday. I did however have a few cards that made the whole submission worth while. A nice 82 Topps Ripken rookie PSA-9 & 1983 Donruss Pete Rose PSA-10. The 316 (AKA - 314) grader was tough, mostly 8's on early 80's stars and rookies. One Fleer Wade Boggs will come back as a 9.

For what it's worth, it was logged in at PSA on the 7th of June and results posted on the 13th, not bad for 5 bucks a card. I've got two more at PSA right now, another shipment goes out by weeks-end.

I too have about 500+ psa graded cards....but have never sent my own submission. It's easier, and most of the time cheaper to just let someone else do the work. Ironically, I've got a stack of pre-war stuff that's been begging to get graded for about 5 years. One day...one day...

I'm into the coins.....but I am trying to keep my eyes off of these cards. I don't need anything else to spend money on......even though I LOVE the look of the 33 Goudeys.

Try waiting for the email "Your PSA grades are available." Don't check them online and wait for them to arrive. It's like opening a huge pack of cards!

Well, I guess it would be. I've never been patient enough to try it yet.image
