Probably my last upgrade for my 1980 mint set!

Well after almost two years I finished it. I found a 1980 P ms67 washington on ebay and did what most people do these days, made him an offer off site. The difference was there weren't any bids on it so I didn't feel bad. I offered to buy it on ebay but he said he would just take it down and give it to me.

I will still be looking for ugrades but with only pop 1 or 2 coins left. I am not going to hold my breath to find any of them. But I plan to send this set in for truview pics soon and try for a couple upgrades as I believe there are a couple with an outside chance. They are 67.9+++ if not 68 but we will see what PCGS thinks.

This has been a truley fun and exciting set and I think I will concentrate on my lincoln set now. I am about 35% complete there with a nice GPA so far. Hopefully I can break the top 10 and stay there.

    Zack,

Congrats in finding a sweet upgrade! Nothing wrong with what you did, IMO. Please do share the true view when they're done image

    Great set!!

Just wondering if you have checked your SBA's for Full Talons? Both the 80 S & D are difficult in MS67 FT.

The 80 P SBA in MS68 will be very difficult. Both are held in pretty strong SBA sets.image

Thanks for all the compliments guys! I put a lot of hard work into this set and don't see selling it in my lifetime.

I have checked the SBAs, the P is FT and the D is a maybe as it is close except for two of the talons that are close. The S is not. They are all really nice.

I know where both of the 80 P 68's are. The one was for sale off and on for a few years. The 66fb D is in JHF's set. The 80P roosie in 68 is in another set. The 80D kennedy in 68 is unknown to me. It isn't in a registry set that I am aware of so it must be in private hands.

Like I said, basically done. image

On to the lincolns and my quest to finish my 1968-present mint set.

Really great set! The complete adte sets are HARD to get in POP TOP coins in MS. Not a lot of people have been paying attention to them. So you have been VERY lucky and very diligent to get what you have. CONGRATULTIONS on your top ranked set. I think it will be a LONG tiome before anyone willl be able to top that. If ever! Ray
