Well, I turned to you guys once before, and with your advice I was able to pick up a very nice 1975 PSA 9 Staubach.
Now Im at it again... this time the dilema is:
1933 Sport Kings, Ty Cobb, PSA 2
or
1967 Mickey Mantle, PSA 8
Both are within $50 of each other, was curious which was more appealing? I dont have a Cobb in my collection, and feel like every good collection derserves one, but fairly high grade Mantles are nice as well....duh

A Mantle in your collection (in an 8 no less) is always special.
Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Depends on your plans?
I already have quite a few Mantles and no Cobbs - so I would pick the Cobb.
Now, if you are talking future sale? I think the 8 may perform better - that's a common issue tho.
Pre-war Cobb - they have been performing well also.
If you are a quality guy - Mick.

here is why:
PSA has graded a total of "271" 33 SportKings Cobbs in all grades.
not a rare card it would seem..but consider that PSA has graded "513" 67 topps Mantles in PSA 8 alone.

calleocho, I was sure of the stats, but figured that there were a siginifican t # more mantles, I had no idea it was nearly 3 to 1, JUST IN PSA 8 ALONE!!!!
I also think there are more out there that may be forthcoming in the next few years....
this is a boatload of cash for me, and for all the reasons you guys have mentioned, Mick in 8 or Cobb in any grade is something Im really agonizing about. But as always, I appreciate your feedback.
Then again, I already have a '51 Bowman, and '52 and '57 Topps PSA graded Mantles

The Cobb would be nice to have, but the "show-it-to-others"
factor is MUCH higher with the Mantle. Many people do not
know who Cobb was, but almost everybody has heard of
Mantle.
The Cobb is real scarce; but, the Mantle is not super-abundant
relative to the number of "new collectors" who will need/want
it during the coming years.

"You can always buy a 1967 PSA 6 topps Mantle...you can probably find one for $150."
Actually, that may be the best way to make the decision. Since the Cobb in any grade
is relatively scarce, the Cobb + a lesser-grade Mantle is probably a better have than
just the PSA 8 Mantle.
I guess I am changing my vote.
