1955 Topps Clemente Rookie PSA 4's - Coming Out of the Woodwork

Just thought it was kind of interesting . . . 7 total 1955 Clemente Rookies in PSA 4 condition in ebay auctions ending between June 1 and June 13, plus 3 more due to the bargain listing day.

Some of the strongest prices I've ever seen too: Completed Clementes

Some of those 4's were pretty nice, but the $600 range is pretty steep. Makes this one look pretty reasonable.

  • The prices commanded are really more of a function of eye-appeal than technical grade when dealing with low-mid grade cards IMO. A well-centered 4 will outsell an ugly 5 anyday of the week; although the same cannot be said about an 8 of high-end traits outselling an ugly 9.

I agree with Brian. Clemente rookies Are always in demand. nice true mid grade cards routinely sell for the next higher grade. 4's command 5 money when they are sweet. The Clemente card is usually found OC and thus is really an off grade card when found like that. I paid 500.00 for my PSA 5, 3 years ago.

This example has the OC and a spot of ink. The corners though are strong and thus even though it is 'off grade' IMO is still a decent looking card.

    Good for you.

Steve, that's a nice card and I think you got it at a great price, even if it's a bit OC, it's really not that bad in my opinion.

I'd drop 5 bills on a PSA-5, no doubt. Care to guess what this one cost me?

It's a total shot in the dark Mike as my SMR subscription ran out, but I'll guess $4,500.
