FGS - Is this another waste of time???

I am hoping to hear it is 100% reliable (I want the card) but is it safe to assume it is just another "If we can read the player's name it must be a 10" grader?
Thanks,
Dave

I bought a couple 1968 Topps commons in FGS 9's...cracked them and sent them to PSA and came back as 8's so I was pleasantly surprised. But I've seen some pretty bad cads in FGS holders too....those Globe Imports would be EASY to trim, they are printed on regular thickness paper. -Claude

Looks like the seller has a whole bunch from them in 10.

I have only purchased 1 FGS card a 59 Topps Jensen FGS 7 when I cracked it open to send to PSA I did not think I would get better than a 5 so I did not send it in.

Before I knew much about grading services I purchased a 1976 Topps Thurman Munson FGS 8 that actually crossed over to a PSA 8. That being said I am sure it was an exception and very fortunate. I would stay clear.

I don't think that card is a 10 in any holder to begin with! I've got a globe import set sitting at home. Interested? They're all there.

  • I cracked a 1933 Goudey FGS 6, sent it to PSA - and it got a 6.

Although it is something I'd be concerned with, it looks like the few posts in this thread shows a better expereince with FGS holders than the likes of PRO and new SCD
  • Any grading service if it's NOT
    PSA, SGC, GAI OR BECKETT

Avoid totally unless your a expert, then you may find a few bargains
If all you see is 10's being offered doesn't that make you think

    Look at 1947 Bond Bread
all you see on ebay is gem mint 10 cards......you rarely see anything below a 10
don't you think it's odd that a 59 yr old card series is only found in gem mint condition?
when was the last time you saw a PSA 10, A SGC 98 card from this series?
    Like never.........

    Just use common sense or
remember a phrase used by rare coin colletors.....

well same for the card hobby
