1966 Topps Rub-Offs

1966 Topps Rub-Off Juan Marichal, PSA 10

Anyone know the story on this issue? Is it very hard to find? A PSA 10 for a vintage HoFer going for under $100 seems like a steal to me.

I'd be surprised if that sticker stays a 10 for long. It's a thin paper issue that is just floating in that holder. One drop to the floor and it's goodbye 10.

The issue itself isn't all that popular. There are uncut strips all around, and the sticker has to be displayed backwards to look right.

I remember collecting these as a kid and figuring these things would never hold up over time. They actually don't hold up that bad and they're not that hard to find in nice condition although of course a 10 is tough. Interesting collectable but not high on my list of favorite inserts. Functionally, they did however "rub-off" very nicely and looked great on various items.

  • I agree with MM. With all the uncut rolls out there, it wouldnt take much to cut yourself a beauty. The rub off in that holder wont stand up to an accidental fall off the edge of a table or desk, let alone the ol' paint shaker test......
  • They look nice and arn't expensive at all. I recently picked up my Pete Rose '66 rub off PSA 8 for less than $35 .........and the pop. report says there are only 10 PSA 8's image
