Just made 3 1970-D PCGS MS66FB pop top Rosys

Submission results are in and there are now 3x PCGS MS66FB 1970-D Roosevelt Dimes (all 3 made together in one submission). The previous pop top was a MS65FB of which there were 2 pieces. The current pop is now (or will be):

MS66FB pop3
MS65FB pop2
MS64FB pop3
MS63FB pop1

All you Rosy dimes guys know how hard it is to make a 70D in FB....let alone 3 at once! Lower pop than the toughest silver coin, the 63P. Will probably sell 2 and keep 1....anyone is interested, let me know.

    Craig,

I'm really happy for you, and I truly mean it, but I'm very unhappy for myself. I just aquired 1 of the 1970-D MS65FB's (Which I don't even have yet) thinking it was a pop-top at (2/0) and now you post this.

My balloon has sprung a leak.

Craig, Nice job. Were the coins submitted raw?. Where did you find them?.

Paul, so sorry........you know how hard ANY 70D is in FB is to find.........hundreds of rolls were gone thru to find these coins.......

Nick, coins were found in rolls. They were slabbed as NGC MS67FT's and all 3 crossed to PCGS MS66FB's on the 1st try.

Let us know how/when you decide to sell the 3 66FB's. image

  • Nice finds. I looked through 400 1970 mint sets and didn't find any p nor d full band coins. Congrats!

I can't imagine how one finds hundreds of rolls of '70-D dimes. Sure, they're
one of the more "common" ones, but I doubt I could lay my hands on twenty
or thirty if I spent a week on the phone.

Congratulations. This is another tough date in FB.

    Dan60 and Mistercoinman:

Lets be honest. 1 of these dimes is going to J.H.F. because he has the money to pay up for it. 1, Colorfulcoins is keeping and that leaves 1. Who do you think that is going too?

Anyone who is will to part with a gallon of cash! Which leaves Dimeman and the 2 of you out!

Colorfulcoins: Thanks, but thats kewl, I'll just put it in my set and smile just like I was planning on doing. Many thanks goes to OnlyRoosiesfor selling it to me, and for that I am totally grateful. He had no idea that you were going to make 3 higher and thats no-ones fault. Except yours! imageimage

I believe that these 3 will be eclipsed soon with 2 MS67FB's.

    So I heard. image

Paul, I can truly understand why you would be upset with the addition of these three dimes, and you may be right about the distribution of these coins. If there are two 67fb made than there will be three 66fb coins that someone paid moon money for, that will feel the same way you feel now. You have made many contributions to the Roosevelt dime experience for all of us, and we all know that someday another coin will be made to better the ones in our sets so that's life. I don't have a full band 70-d so your still ahead of most of us. Have fun, enjoy the chase, and more importantly don't take it so seriously! Your Roosey Pal to the end.image Fred

Now for Craig where are those 3 coins. Show us some Pics image

I think Paul is about right on as to where these 3 coins will end up. I don't think Paul has
anything to worry about when he sees the 70D 65FB he is getting. The value is still there
and he bought it right. I think it's an upgrade shot coin too.

I don't think 2 70D 67FB's will be made. (not even 1 will be made).

    So I heard....image

    Ouch!! That comment hurt.
I have a 1976 MS66FB pop 2, the only two FB's for this weighted year.
I didn't pay gallons of cash for it, but I did manage to pay for it.
If Fred and I don't at least dream/try to get the nice coins we need, Then why bother to build a set?

I don't know what these coins are priced at, but I would bet $800 would get you one. Since
I'm not selling them I don't think a payment plan would be offered either....image
  • Well congratulations Mr. Colorful Coins. That's an incredible coup. And Paul is right: I would like to buy one. But since I'm in Asia right now (Manila, to be precise), would you mind sending it to Mr. Wondercoin, with a price tag, so he can vet it for me?

    Congrats again and ...

    Warm regards,

I didn't mean it to hurt, so I will say that I'm sorry. What the meaning behind the comment was that I know some of us are not made of money. I'm not.

Paul we are friends, I know you didn't mean anything personal.
This follows what I have said before on these forums.
You can't read a persons emotion from posts on the threads. I should have placed a wink after the ouch comment, and a smile after the last comment.
    So I'll do it now...
