hi.. just bought a montana card i had not seen before.. does anyone know what the deal is with this "vintage stamp" designation? thanks!

    Those were buyback inserts in 2003 Topps. I don't think Beckett or Topps or anyone has issued a complete checklist, although Beckett has an incomplete checklist. I have 4 different Marcus Allens, 3 stamped with Vintage and 1 stamped with Fan Favorites. I've seen other players with the two different stamps as well. Of the 4 Allens, none are particularly rare. I'm sure there are well more than 4 Montanas.

    They did the same thing in 2003 Baseball, by the way. Beckett does have a complete checklist of those, complete with print runs. There are 1134 different image. I suspect the number is less for football, but by how much I don't know.

    next question: if and when i send it to psa, what would the tag read? 1988 or 2003? would it qualify for inclusion into the montana master set do you think?

    oh and if you collect marcus allen cards you should contact greg montieth who is on these boards.. he has (or had?) some marcus allen cards from the special jags/panthers gold stamp sets that topps produced in 1995.. i bought the montanas from him and just got them today and they both look gem mint and i've never seen those before, and i've seen a ton of joe montana cards.....

    I have no idea what PSA would do with those. I don't think I've seen them grade a buyback from any set, not that I've really looked. Thanks for the heads up on the Jaguars and Panthers stamped cards, I already have them but I appreciate your looking out.

    many weeks later - an update.......

    why must i buy from the crappiest sellers on ebay??!?!?

    i bought these so long ago that i almost forgot.. but his feedback indicates he's just a slow knob.. check out someone who doesn't care about their feedback... i paid over a month ago for 2 auctions.. as of yet have received absolutely nothing.. should i go ahead and neg one transaction to get his attention? i have tried to contact this assclown about 8 times and heard absolutely nothing.

    Montanafan, File and item not delivered with ebay, this will get his attention, my normal wait time for an item is 2 weeks then I contact the seller and give them 3 business days to respond, then a file a claim. Just MOO Dm
