I sold a 1969 bb PSA 9 for less than $2.00 last night.

    I have about 400 slabbed cards that wouldn't sell for a $.99.

Damn that sounds sickening. Usually there are guys like lmayer to make sure items aren't given away.

I don't sell much, but if that happens often, I think it would make sense to start off at $9.99 - it's only an extra $0.15 insertion fee.

that is absolutely right.. take it from someone that learned this lesson the hard way.. if you price your cards at a level where you're at least not losing any money on it if it sells for the start price, you will do MUCH better in your sales.. especially with a 9.. you could have started that at $20 i bet and the same guy would have won it with his same one bid.. don't be afraid to ask what you want for it.. a 1969 psa 9 going for $2 is truly horrifying..

A couple of months ago I had a real clunker of an auction night. I had 7 1985 donruss PSA 10's sell for $2.00 each, and a lot of 3 1981 donruss psa 10's sell for $7.99 for the bunch. My stomach was turning for a week over it.

I've been pretty fortunate... haven't sold much under $5 no matter the grade no matter the card (modern or semi-vintage.) As mentioned above, I usually start'em out at $4.99/ea unless I KNOW they'll go for a lot more than that.... it's worth the extra dime of whatever to keep the card than give it away.

... but BOY have I picked a few up dirt cheap! Mostly modern, but I've picked up a few $.99'ers (PSA 9's and 10's) and LOVE it when I actually get them in the mail.

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

That is unbelievable, although if I saw it that would have been another set I would have started! What player was it?

jamaar tinsley rookie card psa 10

it sold it for 1 cent. i had it up for 99 cents and it didn't sell so i went to a penny a week later and got it moved!
  • I have a pile of cards that didn't sell at .99, which I've given up on relisting. I have sold a handful of cards at .99 but the one that hurt the most was a PSA 8 1978 Thurman Munson for $2.18
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

81 Fleer Nolan Ryan PSA 5 (yes FIVE, I obviously missed a very small surface crease). I got 99 cents and $3 postage! I was a little surprised someone bought it. However, it might be a GEM 10 now!?

I've sold several PSA cards for .99 plus $1.00 shipping. If one comes back that bad, I don't want to keep it around...
  • I sold a PSA 9 OC 1981 Donruss Golf Hale Irwin for 1 cent plus S/H and was glad to get it.

I usually start my ungraded singles at one cent on auction and let them run their course. So I win some and lose some on that.

I've had several modern junk cards that sold for $2. It never feels good.

During the last $5 special, I was going to send off some cards from some junk wax I got for X-Mas. I actually had the submission form filled out and everything...and then for some reason I decided to check ebay's completed auctions. To make a long story short, even though the cards were basically free, I still didn't think I would make out. Most likely I would have more or less broken even. I threw away the form, tooks the cards out of their cs1's, and never thought about it again.

I've sold lots that included mutiples from the same year that have averaged out to less than $1 a card.....it hurts but it's the chance you take....

  • .99 cents with free shipping
  • A penny for a Topps Sheffield RC PSA NM-MT 8.

Here's the kicker . . . sold it to a kid with whom I played baseball and graduated high school back in 1987 . . . Half a continent away.

You're all right . . . It never feels good.
