That is actually worth $1,200 or more. That's a great example of Americana and it is important. I will agree, however, that it is not suited for a type set. Collector's of counterstamps would love that piece. And.....it will not be repaired because the c/s is worth more than the coin in a repaired state.

I agree with Jade - this is highly collectible for what it is - an early 19th century C/S on a wildly popular host coin, and I am confident it will exceed the estimate by about this much (arms extended far apart).
This is not to be confused (as some forum members evidently have) with a coin damaged / graffitied last week by your brother-in-law.
Yes, its not for everybody. No, it would not be an ideal selection for a type set. But to suggest it would 'rate a repair' is not to understand the market for these items at all.
