Tell me about NAXCOM

I mentioned that I was wanting to buy a 1957 FRobinson card in PSA 7 and a friend here gave me a link to one for sale at NAXCOM. I had never been there, let alone having bought anything. I put in what I wanted to pay and the next thing I knew, my cc was charged and the item was being shipped (got it confirmed on Monday and it arrived today). So what's the deal with NAXCOM? Do any of you shop for cards there? How could I have paid for this card via PayPal? I was hoping that I would have been given the choice of how to pay but didn't see a way to do that.

Basically, you set up your 'account' with a creditcard and then start to shop. When you select particular items in your cart and complete the transaction, your cc is billed for the total. Or, you can place a 'buy offer' on a card and if someone meets your offer, your cc is billed and you are sent the card by the seller.

It's a decent alternative to the 'Bay depending on the buyers/sellers that you are dealing with and whether you aren't really one of those 'centering freaks' (I like my cards rather centered and can take some corner wear if if the centering is on) because at times you really can't see the card before purchasing it. But, that's generally the case only when you place a 'buy order'.

I've purchased a few times via Naxcom and haven't had any issues at all. Others have reported problems with using them, but no problems on my end.

  • I wouldn't waste your time.

You'll either wind up waiting a month for your item, get your item in a white envelope or you'll just never get your item at all and the seller will claim that he accidentally sold it on another site or at a show.

    Customer service is horrible.

I have been on Naxcom for a couple years both buying and selling. I have had one incident with raw cards not being in nrmt condition as stated, and had no problem returning the cards for a full refund. The highest raw card grade they have is nrmt or the equivalent of PSA 7. More than once, I have received cards from Naxcom and submitted them to PSA and gotten better than PSA 7. I read the horror stories on this board, and I am suprised. Overall, I have had much better luck with Naxcom than with ebay.

  • I have had over 700 transactions on Naxcom. No real problems. I guess from the horror stories I read I am due for a change in luck. The one thing I have noticed is about 5 years ago, when I sold, I get charged a extra fee due to the seller using credit card. I smelled something as this ALWAYS happened so I contacted buyer,he paid from sales money in his acct. No credit card was used. I emailed Naxcom,no response and forgot about it until now. My lasy 300+ transactions I have gotten charged a extra fee that I probally should'nt have. Class action lawsuit? Other than that I am fine with them. I like to post "Buy Orders". Handy.
    Good Luck
