When do gates open for day games, and when do players show up?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows when the gates open for games that start at 12:05? I am going to the Cleveland Indians vs. the Oakland A's tomorrow in Cleveland and wanted to get there right when the gates open to hopefully get an auto of Frank Thomas. Also, would it be plausible to meet the players as they "show up for work"? outside the gates? What time would that be? I was thinking 9 am?

Thanks everyone in advance,
Jeff

You're going to try to get "The Big Skirt's" autograph? Good luck! What a tool that guy is.

I remember as a kid going to Yankee stadium, ( mind you this was 40 years ago). The players parking lot was across the street from the stadium. My father would take me to this area after the games where the players would exit the stadium, cross a barracaded area and then a street.......I used to get tons of autos.

    Sorry....I didn't answer your question....

I would try and get himn at the hotel... just call the major hotels in town (closer to the ballpark most likely) and ask to be connected to the room of ________ (enter scrub ballplayer or assistant coach here)

Once you find a hotel you get connected at, bingo... head down there 3-4 hours before gametime.

If you don't want to do that, your best bet will be when the gates open inside the stadium or perhaps after the stadium near the team bus that the A's players will be getting on. good luck

    Thank you so much everyone!

I've been to ball games before, but I've always wanted to see the Big Hurt. I've collected his cards since I started collecting in 1990, and am very eger to finnally have the chance to maybe say hi to the big guy. I have over 1,000 different cards of his, so I hope I don't get disapointed once I finally do meet him. It's ok, my #1 passion is still vintage PSA graded cards, so I still have that option to always fall back on.

    Thanks everyone!

I collected autographs in Boston at Fenway and the various hotels through the early and mid 90s, and saw Thomas many times early on in his career. He was always a good guy for signing autographs - might not have much to say, but had no problem signing for everyone. That may have changed over the last 10 years (as it often does, as players get tired of the autograph routine over a long career), but as for earlier on, he was one of the better signers.

As he has been delegated to DH, you could probably get the auto anytime during the game.
