One more reason that I hate ebay.....

Text

This ended on May 23!!!! A lousy 6.56!
I invoiced the bidder that night...........and four nites later when he failed to acknowledge my first one. A few days later I email and ask for his shipping info. He says he's mailing payment that day. I reply immediately and ask for his shipping info. Nothing.

I finally file a NPB on him a couple of days ago and still have heard nothing.

why do people bid and do this crap? I have had 2 weeks worth of listings sell, be paid for, and shipped and yet this guy's card is still sitting here....over 6.56!

It's hardly worth my time to fool with.

There's lots of wierd people out there, ya never know what their trip is image
  • you have to remember that even though your auction says to pay WITHIN 10 days....some people feel that it's ok to mail on the 10 or 11th day....it doesn't say it must be received in 10...

    and I know it's a small amount....he might be thinking that too.."like, what's the big deal...it's $6+ bucks...."

There has been a lapse in Ebay Etiquette lately...sellers not sending invoices...people not responding to them...people from other countries bidding even though auctions clearly state US shipping only...bad feedback...no feedback...late payments...

But..it's all part of doing business....you have to go with the flow....

Honestly...it's around 2 weeks since the auction...filing a NPB right now is a slight premature...hear me out here...
We are in the beginning of summer....college graduations..high school graduations...weddings...showers...outdoor work to get caught up on....maybe this guy is a little busy...I know I've been going 18-20 hours a day.....a $6.00 card would be my last worry...

I too get alittle anal retentive and want everything to run smoothly......but it's Ebay...it seldom does..

And..I know the buyer ticked you off....my bet..he sent a delayed payment....but won't be back to your auctions...your prematurity may have cost you more $$$ down the line...if that matters.

I always wait close to a month before filing.....too many things can happen in between....and for the $6+ bucks..it's not worth losing sleep over...

    Just my 2 cents..

Oh, I'm not worried about it or anything. It just seems like each week I have 2 or 3 of these types of bidders that do as they please and not as I wish.

I try and keep track of all of the sales, etc...for my dad. When I don't have everything "out" by the time the next batch ends, it complicates things a bit. I have to keep track of fees and everything so if it doesn't ultimately sell, I might as well get a refund.

Also, in my invoice I politely ask the bidder to provide me with their correct shipping info if they aren't using paypal. I go on to explain that this will help them get their card much quicker. I work 12 hours on Sun/Mon/Tue and if I have them all ready to go out, my wife takes them with her to town to the PO. If she sees a payment in the mail, she mails that package right there.

You know, if he would have sent me his address 2 weeks ago, I would have mailed the card the next day with or without payment. I do that a lot and have yet to get burnt.

well maybe he'll get it here before I go to Canada at the end of July.image I'll keep it here for a while before I sell it just in case. I think the old man can live without 6.56. LOL

    what he said
  • typical email from my typical day....

says only: "I Know I'm the winning buyer, but it was my mistake I tought it's autograhp card, sorry for miss understanding.I'm not buying it ,it's not what i'm looking for AGAIN I'M SORRY."

well, anybody could easily mistake that large photograph with a complete absence of anything resembling an auto, for an autographed card.. I don't get my $10.50 i'm guessing?

    Goose,

It's been two weeks today. At this point, if I haven't rec'd payment, or it's ben more than a week since I've heard from the buyer, I issue the NPB. Ebay contacts him, tells him he's an ass, and he usually contacts me to tell me when to expect payment.

If it's any consolation, you're clearly not the first that's had this experience with him. This from October, last year:

Knows how to bid but doesn't know how to pay. We sent numerous emails. BEWARE

Funny how this sort of thing always happens with items that sell for less than $10.... and the items
that sell for the larger amounts usually get paid for much quicker and with less hassle.
I've dealt with these guys before, most of the time it ends up costing you a few pennies, and you'll have
to re-list the item. At least it was a big-ticket item that costs an arm and a leg to list/sell.

Just make sure and block any further bidding from this buyer...

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

  • I had 2 buyers who never paid. item sold worth $4. Buyer #1 bought and asked if I take paypal. I said no CC. 2 weeks passed no payment. I asked again she said she sent it. I told her never got it and she told me she will check. Never heard from again. After a month I told her will finalize NPB and still no response. I finally finalized and guess what after 2 days she marked her ebay page as payment sent (hour glass on my side). She never sent payment. She probably marked it thinking it will get rid of the NPB strike she got. Hard to give neg. FB on buyer who have only 1 FB.

Buyer #2 after using buy it now and she checked out same day. I emailed her and got no response. After 16 days, I reported and filed NPB and she responded in 2 days saying she sent payment date so and so and will check her bank if the check has been cashed. After 8 days no payment. I got fed up and finalized the NPB. Right after the NPB she became NARU. After a week I got her payment and check dated 4 days back before I filed the NPB and postmarked was 5 days after I finalized the NPB. I got pissed and didn't cashed her check because of this. She gave more the 20+ sellers HA. She got 16 neg due to not paying them. Now she's asking me to remove her strike since I have her check but never cashed. I didn't know you can still login to your ebay account even if NARU. I never bothered replying to her. If I removed it she will give other sellers HA so why bother. Just a waste of time.

yes, it's hard.. but still funny.. i've only ever given negative feedback in response to unfair or flat out crooked/extortionist negative feedback i've received (i'm always willing to correct a problem).. and its always a noob too.. and then it dawns on them that a negative feedback against me barely makes a dent and a day later it's pages back in my feedback profile and all but gone, but in their case it knocks them down 30 or 40% or more and it sits on their front page for a lot longer..

afterwards, they are generally much more receptive to offers of resolution and mutual feedback withdrawal...

On the other side of the coin I won 3 one dollar cards from a seller. He filed a NPB on me I stated I was sorry it took me a few days to get a check out but I assured him it was coming (doesn't take paypal) well the check takes awhile etc and he gives me neutrals and gets FVF credited. Then he gets the check and apologizes, sends the cards etc. Well he never took off the NPB and my acct is still suspended 8 months later.

I hear you, but what I have done lately to prevent this problem is starting all ebay auctions with a fixed buy it now/pay for it now price. I always start the auction with the fixed price well above the average going rate for the item in question. Every 24 hours or so I'll edit my auction and lower the price until the item is bought and paid via paypal immediately.
Up to this point, this has worked very well for me.

I agree. I did over $3000 in sales of big cards last month and with the exception on guy paying by check, all of the buyers paid very quickly. Earlier in the month, however, I had some 80s junk to get rid of and even though two items went for $0.99 (including unopened boxes), the buyers didn't want to pay. They said to neg them if I must but instead, I just blew it off - no neg, no NPB. I will end up getting more from donating them to charity then I would hassling with them on eBay. By the way, I love eBay. I think it is miraculous what we are able to do from the comfort of our desktop.

I don't understand sellers who, when a buyer doesnt pay, put 'beware' in the feedback line. As if we can stop them from bidding on our auction in the last minute. Don't get it?

  • You guys make great points about high dollar cards vs small dollar cards. I just sold my first batch of vintage PSA 7's and 8's and of the 13 auctions - all were paid within 24 hours. I have a few mix and match stuff up now with the most expensive card like $12.00 - I am still waiting on payment for 5 of the 18 auctions..and that ended 12 days ago.

Could be your dealers with a business buying the higher valued stuff and your one and two buying the lower items.

Who knows, but a great observation.

It could be kids trying to buy (or have fun) with the low priced stuff.

I know how ya feel, I had to file my first uid today over a $14 dollar card. I have never had problems like this in the past just recently have I run into buyers not wanting to pay.
Now that I have filed the darn uid what happens next ? Ive never had to deal with a non payer before.

I'm not too sure myself......believe it or not I think this is the first one I have ever had to file in all of my years on there.

I believe that the bidder has a set time to respond to the NPB complaint and if he/she fails to do so, the fees get credited back and he/she gets a strike against them.

Now don't get me wrong here.....I don't hate ebay. I just get a bit frustrated at times with some of the bidders..........moreso on these cards than on any coins I have ever sold.

Correct me if I am wrong here , but the buyer(or bidder) cant neg you if you file one of these, right ???

My interest in the hobby has waned due to Ebay BS. After 5 years of buying/selling stuff, the Bay has really gotten...
    How to describe... Junky? Tawdry?

The fees, prissy buyers who treat you like dirt, sellers who try to make a killing on shipping, and the constant, incessant phishing emails from robots using Ebay as their database.

The Bay has jumped the shark IMO, and I decide to buy directly from dealers like SimsClassicSports. Currently I'm on an ancient coin kick with civitas galleries, but the cards are nearby, waiting...
  • Good question banker. I think they the only way the buyer feedback is blocked is if a non-paying strike is given to said person, at that time they lose feedback privileges, but not unitl then.

Correct me if I am wrong

So after the uid and the guy still does not pay can I neg him with no retalitory feedback?? Or should I neg him ??

How many NPBs have you gotten? I thought you had to get more than one to get suspended...

Once the buyer responds to your NPB filing then buyer can leave you FB even if the buyer never paid you and also you got your credit.

If buyer never responded to your NPB filing and you finalize the claim and got credit, you can leave FB but buyer won't be able to leave you FB.
